Parenting is a joy!

Never have I screamed at my kids nor have I raised my hands
on them,  I understand discipline is
needed, but my father disciplined me by just looking at me with disappointment…
and that had straightened me out, I did the same to my kids and now I see my
son Jeff do the same to his son Jayden.
When Jayden (2 and half years old) refuses to do anything, Jeff
starts logic with him. Towards the end of his argument he asks, Daddy is
disappointed in you, do you like that? He would say no, then he will suggest,
if you do that Daddy will not be disappointed, right?  And I hear a Yes.
It was so good to see him reason with the kids (other one is
only 2 months old). Fern is inculcating good eating habits for Jayden, she
gives him veggies, food and fruits, and he loves it.
With each successive generation, parenting is getting better
in terms of spending quality time with their offspring.  My Dad spent about fifth of the time my son
spends with his kids, and I probably did half of the time he does.
I am going to visit them once a month and I love spending
time with them.
Jayden hangs on to me for the time I am there and wants me to
read or tell him the stories. I have cooked up a few stories that I told Jeff
and Mina and now the same stories are going to grandkids. He is a therapy to
me! I forget everything when I am with him.
If you don’t have a kid, spend time with your nephews and nieces or
grand nephew and nieces, life becomes so much more meaningful.

Jeff, my son is a darn good father, and Fern my daughter in
law is an excellent and calm mother, and I love the way they team up in
handling Jayden with reasoning and logic!

Town hall Meeting with Mike Ghouse in Dallas about Terrorism

Comments Off on Town hall Meeting with Mike Ghouse in Dallas about Terrorism
Mike Ghouse’ Townhall meeting | TheGhouseDiary.com
Saturday, January 9, 2017, Dallas, TX – “War on Terror is the
dumbest idea ever floated” was the title of my talk, and I spoke at two places;
one was a private gathering, and the other was a group from College of
Complexes at Roma Pizza Place on Greenville Avenue.

About 60 people attended the event at Roma Pizza Place; this was my 3rd
time speaking with this group represented by diverse American political values.
There were conservatives, liberals and moderates; Republicans, Democrats,
Libertarians and Independents, and a whole range in between. I love this group,
as rarely do I speak to such political diversity and walk out learning as much
as sharing my views.
Three out of sixty were ethnically and racially different –
there was me, and a Black Gentleman, and the third one was of either Hispanic
or Native America Origin and is running as a libertarian against Republican
Congressman Kenny Marchant, whom I have voted twice.
I’ve been doing these town hall meetings for a while, it is good
to be a moderate and have the ability to see different points of view without
prejudice. I ask them “ Don’t go home regretting that you should have asked
that lingering question, I will welcome any tough question, we are here to
place everything on the table, be sincere with our expressions and deal with the
issues honestly. You cannot upset me with any question. ” I encourage frank
talks and people do open up to me, and hats off to them for dialogue in the most civic
manner possible.
Let me take a detour with my background – in the late
eighties, I was tuned into David Gold, the talk show host on AM 570 in Dallas, who was so venomous towards Palestinians and Arabs and made a hill out of
every mole. They would not take my calls; they would screen the calls and would
not take any one who was opposed to him.
Lo and behold, years later David became my tenant, and I had a
conversation with him. His income went up with the ratings, and ratings went up
with rants and antics, why would he want to dilute his show with facts?  He inspired me to go get my own Radio show in
1996, on AM 1150 which I ran for 5 years – I made sure both sides of the issue
were addressed equally and fairly and no opinion was screened out.

I am looking to get going again in Washington DC with a talk show hour, and I am
looking for volunteer research assistants to fact check on Limbaugh and his
likes, we still have some talk hosts who will not put opposing views, and we
will challenge them to facts. Americans deserve to see two sides of the coin,
and not bamboozled by one or the other.  I
am a moderate,  and there aren’t any moderate shows out there, although a
majority of Americans are moderates.

I asked my audience to lay it out and they do. However, it puts a huge
responsibility on our shoulders to repair the world, it was not easy to hear fabricated
stuff and the propaganda that some of my fellow Americans have bought into, but
what can we do, for that is all they know.  I was not surprised to hear Trump justifiers.
We have a lot of work to do.

Town hall meetings are true research material, honest people
will tell us honestly what they think about the issue, in this case Muslims.
There were several rational and good voices in the meeting,
some of them who spoke well for Muslims had one thing in common- I.e., each one
of them cited examples of good Muslim interactions– I was particularly buoyed
because, one lady said,  had it not been for the medical treatment she got
from the Islamic center of Richardson,  she would not have been alive, and
that center was set up and established by my late wife Najma and Dr. Amer
Shakil, God bless her and may give the strength to Muslims to do more of this.
The second one was the guy who had attended Texas Muslim
Barbeque in Cowboys stadium headed by late Dr. Lalani, and the first few
meetings for that big event were held in my house, I was one of the three
initiators of it besides Ambassador Ahsani. It is so good to hear its lasting
effects almost after a decade. This meeting has pumped me up with the initiatives
they I’ve proposed over the years.
I have responded to some 15 questions, and then about 10 of them
shared their 2 minutes  comment, did not get a chance to address them all, but concluded the meeting with a commitment to address them soon.
The full video will be out in 15 days; instead of
negatively reacting to those comments,   we have to think, what is that we
need to do to fix the problems.

These meetings are helpful in learning about each other, what
our problems are, and how we solve them.
We have to become Amins
of the society. Praise the lord, many a Hindus Jews, Christians and others
consider me as an Amin; the foundation for building cohesive societies.  Amin is some one who tells it like it is, the truth, is trustworthy and around whom people feel secure.
There were several questions and comments – I have made some note and hope to repond to them this week, right here as an update of this note.

Dealing with Terrorism, the Islamic
way

Dr. Mike
Ghouse, community consultant, social scientist, thinker, writer, news maker,
and a speaker on Pluralism, Interfaith, Islam, politics, human rights, India,
Israel-Palestine and foreign policy. He is deeply committed to building
cohesive societies and offers pluralistic solutions on issues of the day; he
will discuss how the Bush and Obama methods of handling terrorism have not
worked, where the first method created more terrorism and the second one has
not mitigated it.
Also, as a moderate Muslim, Mike will discuss the
Islamic way of handling terrorism, to wit:  “Mr. Baghdadi, you have three
days to stop killing innocent people and destroying Allah’s creation, life and
environment.  If you do not heed the warning, we will hunt you down an
ambush wherever you hide.  If not, we will gas you, a few square miles at
a time, not to hurt you, but to capture and put you on trial and ask you to
give up the false claims you are making about your religion.
Soldiers from around the world will be on the front line against you.”  He
argues that blaming the religion is the dumbest thing to do, because we cannot
beat, kick, hack, shoot, hang, kill or bury a religion, it’s an intangible thing!
Mike concludes that we can blame the individuals and restore trust and harmony
back for the society to function peacefully and cohesively. See also  http://thearabdailynews.com/2015/11/19/war-terror-dumbest-idea-ever-floated/

Why I love America! Congressman Sessions and Veasey

Comments Off on Why I love America! Congressman Sessions and Veasey
Why I love America | www.TheGhousediary.com
This is what makes America great; big men being ordinary with no air of
arrogance.

January 8, 2016,
Reagan Airport, Washington, D.C. — Congressman Pete sessions is a
charming political leader, as I walked towards him at the airport, he stretched
his arm to shake hands and called my name out!  He has always done that.
No wonder he is unshakable in the 32nd Congressional District in
Texas. He has an incredible memory!
He then introduced me
to Congressman Michael Burgess and another prominent Congressman.  I am embarrassed not to remember his name, especially
after extolling Sessions for his memory.   We were all flying to Dallas.
Long time ago, I had
introduced Sessions to the Desi community on my Radio Show in Dallas, and have
been a supporter of him ever since, when you meet him once, there is no way you
will walk out without liking him.

Sessions,Burgess
Ghouse, Sessions
Veasey | Sessions

I was a Republican
for most of my life in America, but chose to become an Independent in 2014 to
allow me to support the right candidates be it Republican or Democrats.  The only regret of my life is voting for Ted
Cruz, I wish he represented values of inclusion,  and the most joyous and heartfelt vote was for Obama twice! Remember, I am
a moderate like most Americans and we don’t have bias towards either
Republicans or Democrats, it is because of the struggle between the two in
contributing towards a stable Republic, oops, Government!
Pete Sessions and I
had a good conversation, and he appreciated and encouraged what we did at the
Lincoln Memorial. “Rally against ISIS and Terrorism” and celebrating “Jesus and
Prophet Muhammad’s birthday jointly.”He and I will get together in a few weeks;
I want to hear him out, to find solutions for the perceptions about Muslims in
America and what he has to offer to fix the problem.  As Americans, we are all committed to the
safety and security of America.
Sessions also
mentioned about passing away of Dr. Hasan Bukhari, his neighbor, and a
community leader in Dallas, and I’ll have to call Niki Bukhari his daughter and
Talat Bukhari his wife to express my heartfelt condolences to them. I have been
to their house.
What I love about
America is the unassuming simplicity we all live with. They stood in line like
everyone else, and walked in after the first class passengers boarded. I was in
group 2, they were in group 1, as I walked into the plane towards row 18, I saw
Congressman Mark Veasey on row 16, another great congressman from Fort Worth, and
we are friends as well and communicate on Face book.
Sessions and I were
in the same row, and little later, the man sitting next to him in the aisle seat
went to the rest room, Veasey came to talk with Sessions, after a while he
turned to me and wanted to introduce me to Sessions, we laughed. We all
knew each other. It is so good to see the Democrats and Republicans sit together, there are a lot of things that are bi-partisan and I hope a day will come when most of the things would get bi-partisan support.
I thanked Veasey for signing H.Res.569 – Condemning violence, bigotry, and hateful rhetoric towards Muslims in the United States.  He was not sure what I was talking about, but was graceful about it.  I came home and checked, he has not yet signed it, so I am going to request him and Pete Sessions and Michael Burgess to consider signing it.

Then I walked the plane to see if I will run into Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, Congressmen Ralph Hall and Kenny Marchant, all my friends from Texas. By the way Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson has signed the HR. 569.

In all, there were 4
senior congressmen, all flying economy!  The other day our Surgeon General
Dr. Murthy flew in economy from Phoenix to DC in economy. I was expecting them to fly First class, and glad they fly economy, that is wisely using the tax dollars.  This is what
makes America great; big men being ordinary with no air of arrogance.
I asked Congressman
Sessions, what he wants to see Muslims do. He was ready, integration and be a
part of the society; inculcate the values to be patriotic Americans. Report
any bad elements and make America safer for everyone. That is what my friend Sean Hannity would have said.
It’s an amazing
coincidence, I wrote this note a few days ago that I shared it with Congressman
Sessions,  “American Muslims are
more patriotic than an average American, and they have more at stake in defending
and preserving the freedom and will do every right thing to make sure America
is safe for everyone.” Indeed, I have made a statement on Sean Hannity Show on
Fox News that the only thing I will fight for in my life is to defend our freedom,
to me nothing is greater than the God given freedom to each one of us, and I will die for it, if I have to, to protect it for all of us. That is indeed an inalienable right.
Send a note to these two gentlemen that you appreciate them:

Congressman Pete
Sessions (R) – https://sessions.house.gov/

Congressman Mark
Veasey (D) – https://veasey.house.gov/

President Obama and Gun safety

Comments Off on President Obama and Gun safety
PRESIDENT OBAMA AND GUN SAFETY

Obama will go down in the history as one of the most intellectual presidents of our history. He struggles in finding pathways to fix the problems in the society without worrying about the electorate. I can compare him to Lincoln and the civil war.
Without any doubt he believes in the 2nd Amendment, the right to carry guns, yet our friends influenced by the Gun lobby, choose to say that he is out to get the guns, he is not. Let it be loud and clear, all he wants is safety of Gun usage, so your teen does no kill himself or some psycho does not go into school and mass shoot babies…..

355 Mass murders this year, and we still want guns in the hands of the nuts? They have the right to have the guns, but let’s make sure they are mentally capable of having one… you cannot drive on the road without license, and you cannot drive when you are drunk – for the safety of public at large, we need gun safety regulations.

Please drop your hatred for Obama and see what is good for America.

67% of Americans are with him, it is time for the Congressmen and women to be with him on this singular issue – Gun Safety.

A pause in the shouting: Obama, critics connect at CNN’s town hall on guns – http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/07/politics/obama-executive-action-gun-control-town-hall/

Hundreds of Muslim workers fired after dispute over prayers

Comments Off on Hundreds of Muslim workers fired after dispute over prayers
Muslim Workers fired in Colorado | AmericansTogether.org
January 2, 2016, CBS News reports,  “Nearly 200 Muslim workers have been fired from a Cargill meatpacking plant in Colorado, for walking out after a dispute over prayer breaks.”
This report has generated some of the following responses;

“Company was right in firing them. Today its time off for prayers, tomorrow its objection to wearing work uniform, next day its objection to facial hair policy.”
“I do not think that it is too much to ask our employees to not go every one to gather and stop the work.  I think we are going on the evil side instead of goodness.”
Being American is to honor a woman when she is pregnant, and pay for pregnancy leave. The companies did not say, don’t get pregnant, we don’t pay you to get pregnant.
Being American is appreciating our school cafeterias to respect a child’s choice to eat, vegetarian, kosher or halal foods, good things happen when people start believing in living their lives and letting others live theirs.
Being American is letting each faith member practice his or her faith, and build his or her place of worship.
Being American is respecting and believing in the rights of others, and being American is to value others life liberty and pursuit of their happiness.
Being American is NOT drawing sadistic pleasure by denying others rights. The idea of Liberty is; I don’t agree with you, but I’ll fight for your rights.
The stupid employer could have gotten more out of their employees by working with them, and setting a great example.
For some people their faith is important, and for some it is not important, and yet there some who will sell their mothers or faith to have an income.
We have to stand up for the legitimate inalienable rights for people, no matter what religion they belong to …
First they came for blacks…
Then for gays and lesbians
Came for Mormons,
Then for Muslims
Hindus, Jews ….
I didn’t give a shit, I was not one of them
But when they finally came for me,
No SOB was there to defend me.
Is this the world we want?
Thank you,

Hundreds of Muslim workers fired after dispute over prayers

FORT MORGAN, Colo. — Nearly 200 Muslim workers have been fired from a Cargill meatpacking plant in Colorado, for walking out after a dispute over prayer breaks.
Praying five times a day is a must for many Muslims.
But Tony Aden says missing even one of those prayers over a break time dispute caused him and many others to walk away from their jobs.
“It don’t matter if I don’t have a job, my religion is more important,” Aden told CBS News.

muslim-workers.jpg

A Cargill meatpacking plant in Colorado fired nearly 200 Muslim workers after they walked off the job in a dispute over prayer breaks.

 CBS DENVER
Cargill spokesperson Michael Martin says prayer is allowed. But he says a misunderstanding of company policy came on December 18th, when 11 workers asked for a break to pray at the same time.
“Coming from that specific work area would have disrupted the workflow so the supervisor told the employees that they could go pray, but they would have to go in smaller numbers than 11,” Martin told CBS News. “It would have to be three at a time.”
The following Monday, nearly 200 employees from the Muslim community didn’t show up to work for three consecutive days. The company fired them all.
“There are times when accommodation is not possible,” Martin said. “But in an overwhelming majority of instances, we do everything we can to ensure sure that we do accommodate employees.”
Jaylani Hussein represents 150 workers who are now without a job.
“Now we are getting supervisors who are telling our clients to go home if they wanted to pray,” Hussein said. “If they are denied their basic rights to practice their faith reasonably at their employment, they seem to be losing one of the basic fundamental rights.”

The Cargill plant in Fort Morgan, Colorado is hiring replacements for the Muslim workers it fired.

CBS DENVER

Cargill is now hiring to fill the shoes of those who walked out.
Areas have been set up at Cargill since 2009 to accommodate anyone who requested time to pray.
The Council on American Islamic Relations is currently working reach an agreement with Cargill so that those fired workers can return.

Kashmir and its Governance

Comments Off on Kashmir and its Governance
Kashmir and Governance | www.TheGhouseDiary.com

No nation should be formed on the basis of religion anymore.  We have seen
the ugly results of it, and any nation that is formed now should be
democratic in governance, where all people’s rights are protected.

There should never be an Islamic, Christian, Hindu or Jewish state, as religion is practiced by humans, and they may not live up to its
highest principles. I would rather have a bad democracy over a theocracy, in a democracy we have a chance of correcting the course, and peacefully replacing the corrupt guys with good guys,  you cannot do that in a theocracy. Then the question is whose
theocracy will it be?
Shia, Ahmadiyya,
Hindu, Christian and Sikh minorities live in apprehension in Pakistan, and in
Bangladesh, you can add the Buddhist Minorities who are equally harassed.
The current but short-lived Hindutva wave in India is also causing apprehensions
among Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and other minorities.
The authentic Islam that respects the otherness of others, honors dignity of every human, and believes in living your own life and letting others live theirs is part of the individual Muslim psyche, but it has not reached in governance of many a Muslim nations. As a Muslim, I invite
fellow Muslims to stand against the brand of Islam practiced in Pakistan,  Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan and…. others. There is no respect for other
traditions within Islam in these nations, let alone others.  They claim to follow Islam, but they don’t.

Islam is my religion and I love it, most of us want it to remain a personal guidance to continue to make us good
humans and good citizens with no political ambitions to rule others, but to serve others as fellow beings.  The idea of ruling others in the name of a religion, corrupts that religion, any
religion for that matter.

God honors caring people over religious people who do not care, caring is
emphasized here. There are numerous examples – if someone gives water to a
thirsty cat, God is willing to forgive his or her shortcomings, and such is the
value places on caring for others.  God
loves the man who shares his food with hungry fellow being, even if that person
has committed sin over a guy who prays all day long. God only knows what is in your heart and you are reminded not to judge other people’s faith.  God says in Quran, whether
you are Jewish, Christian or Pagan, if you take care of fellow humans, he or
she need not worry, as he would earn God’s grace.  Similar thoughts are in Hinduism,
Christianity and other faiths – do the followers of all faiths follow their religion
to the full? Then, why do we need a religion in governance?

An Independent
Kashmir is not good for Kashmiris, Indians or Pakistanis. The extremists loaded
with guns will swallow it and terrorize everyone, but most certainly Muslims for not following their brand of Islam. They will be
coming from around the world to establish a false Islamic Caliphate in the
likes of Islamic state, where they rape women, make them slaves and sell them, completely against the principles of Islam.

Islamic Caliphate should be consistently discouraged, what we need is
democracies, which is Islamic in nature, you elect your representative who is
trustworthy, but there will be a contest with other trust worthy individuals. That
is how it was done during the first four Caliphs of Islam, and after that it
was always run by  dictators and kings and together they have messed
up what Islam is all about to suit their whims, Islam is a system designed for individuals to create cohesive societies where no
human has to live in fear of the other with justice, mercy and equality to all.

Kashmir and Kashmiris
are better off with a Pluralistic India, where they can choose who governs them
freely. You can fix the problems in a democracy, but not in a theocracy.

Congressman John Lewis from Georgia’s 5th District

Congressman John Lewis | www.TheGhouseDiary.com

Monday, January 4, 2015 – Washington, DC — I walked into my favorite Chinese Restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue, and spotted Congressman John Lewis, and walked up to him, he was gracious and we carried a conversation. What a joy it was to have this accidental Dinner meeting.

He is a good listener indeed, and listened to my narrative about speaking from the steps of Lincoln Memorial, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered his ” I have a dream” speech which gave birth to the civil rights acts fulfilling the founding fathers vision that we are all created equal.

We chose the same steps to deliver our speech, and our vision where Muslims will be accepted as equals and reach a new milestone of integration.
He was happy to hear that as Muslims and Christians came together to celebrate once in our life time auspicious birth event of Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammad on Saturday, December 26th on the very steps where MLK spoke his dream.  The idea of the event was to come together to create a better America for every American.
He said, he was in Atlanta during that time, and would have loved to join the event. We have many more events coming up this year and we will make sure to invite him.

Saudi Arabian Monarchy violates two principles by executing Sheikh Nimr, a Shia leader

Comments Off on Saudi Arabian Monarchy violates two principles by executing Sheikh Nimr, a Shia leader
Tuesday, January 5, 2016, Dallas, Texas. — The Monarchs of Saudi Arabia have executed Sheikh Nimr, a Shia Muslim religious leader for his expression of dissent.

There
are two issues here: violation of free speech and wrecking the delicate
relationships between Shia and Sunni at this time.  This is not acceptable, we demand an apology as well as reparations to fix the relationships.
As Americans counting on stable relationship with the people of different nations, we have to consider long term sustainability of the form of governance and if it serves justice to all her citizens, anything short is a powder keg waiting to explode. We have to advise the Monarchs to ease themselves into a monarchy in the likes of United Kingdom or risk in the likes of Shah, Saddam, Qaddafi, Mubarak and others.

On January 02, Saudi Arabia executed a prominent Shiia cleric named Nimr al-Nimr, who led anti-government protests in 2011, along with 46 others (mostly Sunnis) labeled as “terrorists” within the kingdom. The move appears to be designed to stoke Sunni-Shiia tensions and shows that Sunni Saudi Arabia is taking a more provocative stance toward Shiia Iran than it has in the past.
Daily Muslims reports, “Al-Nimr was a fervent dissident against the Sunni Muslim Saudi royal family who called for their deposal during the Arab spring uprisings in 2011. Al-Nimr was a central figure in Arab Spring-inspired protests by Saudi Arabia’s Shiite minority until his arrest in 2012. He was convicted of terrorism charges but he denied advocating violence. Meanwhile, al-Nimr’s family prepared for three days of mourning at a mosque in al-Awamiya in the kingdom’s al-Qatif region in predominantly Shiite eastern Saudi Arabia. Saudi officials informed his family that the cleric had been buried in an undisclosed cemetery, a development that could lead to further protests.
Al-Nimr’s execution spurred sectarian protests and violence in the Middle East. Now, it has sparked a serious diplomatic rift. The two countries have long been at odds, but Saudi Arabia’s execution of Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr kicked off a new round of sparring between them that analysts say could mark a dangerous shift in an already volatile region.”

A full press release will be out by Friday.

Fox News – The Man Who Killed Usama bin Laden

Comments Off on Fox News – The Man Who Killed Usama bin Laden
The reason for me to write this brief note about this film is – my own involvement in the 9/11 story and my commitment to serve my nation for eternity, as long as I live.

It was joyous for me to see this show, and it got doubled down when Fox reluctantly acknowledged President Obama’s role in it. I have heaped praises on Obama to remove the cancer instead of destroying the whole body like his predecessor did.

I hope my Republic friends see Obama’s success, I hope they appreciate him, he is the best one we have had, the economy is doing exceptionally well, even after the total disaster caused by Bush, the budget deficit is reducing, and we have a refreshed infrastructure and so much more… Thank you Mr. President, we have to express our gratitude to you, shame on those who are ungrateful for what you have done, that is very un-American of them.

1. The 9/11 Story has been read over 2 Million times, I was on the radio that day in 2001 for 6-8 hours trying to bring coherence to the world that was chaotic that day, we initiated interfaith prayers, blood donation and fund raising. I had declared my own war on UBL.  http://nabsites.net/demo/911-my-personal-journey-from-2001/

This movie brings a closure to so many, including me, which is best expressed in the Fox 4 News TV Dallas, a video the day UBL was killed.

Fox News Channel presents a new documentary entitled “The Man Who Killed Usama bin Laden” hosted by Washington correspondent Peter Doocy. The presentation will feature an exclusive interview with the Navy SEAL who says he fired the shots that killed terrorist leader Usama bin Laden. In the special, he describes the events leading up to and during the historical raid that took place on May 1, 2011.

Revealing his identity and speaking out publicly for the first time, the Navy SEAL, also known as “The Shooter,” will share his story of training to be a member of America’s elite fighting force and explain his involvement in Operation Neptune Spear, the mission that killed bin Laden. The documentary will provide an extensive, first-hand account of the mission, including the unexpected crash of one of the helicopters that night and why SEAL Team 6 feared for their lives.
