Evil Man Abu Bakr Baghadadi Dead – Thank God

Evil Man Abu Bakr Baghdadi is dead – thank God
The U.S. officials believe that his elimination is equivalent to decimating the extremist group. I think it takes a lot more than that, and it is time we take the right steps, the non-violent peaceful method of debunking their fantasies.

I have discussed putting a significant dent in their recruitment effort. To begin with, a 10 minutes video clip challenging potential Baghdadi sympathizers to prove from the Quran all the bullshit Baghdadi (and Bin Laden) had spewed on them. There is nothing like it in the Quran. However, we also need to challenge Muslims to consider fixing the secondary books, the source for extremist ideas.

Of the several videos and articles, I was able to recall these two for your perusal.

INDIAN FLAGThere are two types of Indian Americans – the ones who worship the current government and will never see the faults or criticize them, they consider that to be unpatriotic,  they would rather see the government doubles down on its mistakes than be criticized.  The other Indian Americans see the flaws and mistakes of the current government for the sake of correcting the course and saving India from going down the tube.

Summary

The primary concern about India today is the violation of religious freedoms and human rights, and it could lead to a genocide of Holocaust proportions and disastrous results for the Indian economy and American Security interests[1]. This paper outlines the concerns, the background for such developments, and the solutions.

At the bottom of the page are 19 solutions to resolve this conflict.

On August 15, 1947, when the Union Jack came down, and the Indian flag rose over the Red fort, India was an emerging country, a poor country. The western powers had the arrogance to believe that India was not ready to manage its affairs.

All that was proven wrong for the next sixty-seven years, India not only became self-sufficient in food but started exporting food grains. India’s GDP had dramatically increased and became a leader among the developing nations, and India became an economic giant among the top ten economies.

In 2014, Mr. Narendra Modi rode to the power with hopes of building the nation further, he was not equipped to take the country forward. He was a great mesmerizing orator, who did not keep his promises, nor did he have Wisemen in his cabinet,

He claimed, and most people believed, that he abandoned his wife, family and home to serve the nation, only gullible can believe.  Unlike Mahatama Gandhi, who did not abandon his wife,  wore simple clothes, lived in a simple place, and ate simple food, Modi has more luxuries than the richest men and women in India.  He is not corrupt directly, but he gets his millionnaire friends forgiven from paying back the loans, gives billion-dollar contracts (Rafael) to his friends without bids and with no experience.

He is a lonely man and has all the tendencies of a fascist, that is one man rule. He is the Prime Miniter to every Minister. His hero is Hitler and Mussolini (more below). He will not face questions and will not give an interview to anyone. He is beyond question. The last serious interview he gave was to Karan Thapar some six years ago and walked out in the middle of the interview. He could not answer tough questions or even say sorry for the deaths of nearly 2000 people under his watch.

We believe that every human aspires to live in a cohesive society where he or she feels secure about his/her faith, ethnicity, race, culture, and uniqueness. Everyone should be able to eat, drink, wear, and believe whatever suits him to live his life in the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. That is the hallmark of all civilized nations. Modi has wholly messed this up.

State of the Union in Shambles

  1. Kashmir Fiasco
  2. Highest Unemployment in 45 years, creating colossal unrest among youth
  3. Devastating Demonetization has ruined average Indian
  4. GST shutting down small businesses
  5. Farmers Suicides – Biting the hand that feeds
  6. Breaks to Friends in the industry
  7. Lynching has terrorized the Indians
  8. 29 Lakh Indians declared to be non-Indians
  9. The imposition of Hindi Language
  10. Draining RBI
  11. Corruption
  12. Criminals in Parliament
  13. Losing influence in the United Nations
  14. GDP of 4.5

If these trends are not reverse, it will tear the nation apart severely impairing the economic prosperity gained in the last twenty years. Terrorism in the likes of Afghanistan was never a part of India, but the conditions are ripe to give birth to it. The United States has much to lose, both the investments and the security interests.

Prosperous Nations

Modi can save India if he listens to the sane voices and restores freedom to every Indian to pursue his/her life, liberty, and happiness. Punish the ones who hurt fellow Indians in the pursuit of their happiness. The downfall can be reversed, provided Modi sees the full picture.

Innumerable studies are proving that the nations that have the most religious freedom are the most prosperous ones. The United States is a shining example of sustainable prosperity through the practice of freedom. (Ref: Can Modi save India listed below)

Appended to this report are gruesome videos, pictures of brutalities of Indian soldiers towards men and women of Kashmir in particular and Dalits, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and moderate Hindus in general.

The Indian Americans

As Indian Americans, we have an obligation to the land that gave birth and nurtured us. The air, water, and the food from that land run in our veins, and we care about her.

At this point in history, India is treading on a dangerous path, and we must be aware of the consequences and offer solutions.

Patriotism requires us to be critical of the government and keep them on their feet to prevent them from making disastrous mistakes. Those who choose to kiss, and equate the politicians to God are making a severe mistake and letting the nation go down the spiral. We don’t have to demean ourselves to be the Chamcha (sycophant) of the government, current or any government.

Brand India

Mahatma Gandhi carefully crafted brand India as the land of Ahimsa, which is non-violence and equality of humanity. Dr. Ambedkar enshrined India’s constitution by incorporating the secular ideals of Pandit Nehru, Unified India’s vision of Sardar Patel and the pluralistic vision of Maulana Azad.

Thanks to the founding fathers for their vision. Every Indian is proud of India’s constitution, modeled after American values of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Indeed, India’s law may be the first of its kind in the modern world, where each religion was fully respected and accepted as part of the whole. Thus, a pluralistic constitution.

The tradition of Pluralism is deeply rooted in India for over two millenniums. India has facilitated everyone from Adivasis to Zoroastrians and everyone in between. They all have flourished along with the majority of Hindus. Once again, India holds the record to be the first land among the nations to have so many religions in one place.

However, the ugliest patch India has on its history is the abuse and mistreatment of Dalits – the untouchables for several thousand years. It is embarrassing to have experienced and know about it firsthand. The constitution fixed that problem legally in 1950, but the practice has not died down yet.

The proud pluralistic tradition of India is in peril now, and in an accelerated pace in the second term of Prime Minister Modi. In the following paragraphs, we will walk through Mr. Modi’s indoctrination, its effect on him as a leader of the country, the sources, and goals of such ideology and the solutions to restore India.

Understanding Narendra Modi

Mr. Modi is a product of the severe indoctrination by the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh – i.e., the Madrasas of the extremist’s teachings among Hindus (RSS follows this section).

Mr. Modi was not taught to be inclusive; he was drilled to believe that Hindus are a superior race. That only Hindus have a right to live in the land, whereas Christians and Muslims have a choice to convert to Hinduism, live as 2nd class citizens with no rights or disappear.

Indeed, some Muslim men who are a product of Muslim Madrasas, also believe that only Muslims have a right to life and others don’t.

RSS came into being like a mirror image of Hitler and Mussolini’s models. They praise Hitler for ‘ridding’ the Jews from Germany to maintain the purity of their race. He is their Hero and amply lauded in the school curriculums. The founders of RSS said Hindus must do the same “rid” Muslims and Christians from the land.

The RSS started as a fringe group and gradually expanded its scope to include all facets of Hindu society. However, the exception was the Dalits – also known as untouchables, as they were inferior people to them.

RSS is one of the most prominent para military-civilian organizations in the World, they have several divisions, and together they are called Sangh Parivar.

They killed Mahatma Gandhi and were banned several times. However, the previous government believed in the constitution and free speech and let them operate instead of permanently banning them. Now that they are in power, they have denied the same freedom to others.

Greetings on Festivals

Most Indians, regardless of their faith, send their greetings to each other on the celebrations of their festivities. It is a traditional culture of India and was routine for the politicians to communicate their wishes to the people of all faiths in the last thousand years. Prime Minister Modi had difficulty in wishing happiness to Muslims and Christians on their festivals. Poor guy was not given those common-sense values at the RSS Madrasa. Finally, he did send the greetings on the advisement until he fully consolidates his power.

Courtesy of honoring others

Modi was never raised to respect the otherness of the other. During his campaign, the public honored him in different regions with their customary headgears. The Muslims also wanted to honor him, but he refused to wear a cap/kippa presented by them.

Passing laws to curb religious freedom

Mr. Modi does not care what an abandoned wife goes through without any financial support. Now, he is pushing for the legislation that if a Muslim man divorces his wife on the spot (Triple Talaq), he goes to jail for three years. How is that poor woman going to take care of their kids and raise a family without alimony? Reckless laws.

Gujarat Massacre

A passenger car-train in Godhra, Gujarat, was burnt when it reached the station scorching 53 individuals. The Government of  Gujarat set up a commission of inquiry and they concluded it was the mob of 1000 Muslims that set the fire to the train, while the central government concluded it was an accident. Muslims have condemned this act,

The charred bodies were taken on a procession inciting the mobs to go on a frenzy of killing Muslims. They raped, slaughtered, and burnt many of them alive. Nearly 2000 people were gone, and several thousand displaced, and the majority of them were Muslims. It all happened when Modi was the Chief Minister (Governor) of the State of Gujarat. As a result, most countries, including the US, had banned him from entering the USA.

Character flaws

Modi’s character flaws are evident in his actions. Instead of ordering to stop the massacre in Gujarat, he told the mobs to finish the job (killing Muslims) within three days. The police officer revealed the truth is in jail for a lifetime.

Compensation to the victim’s families and displaced persons was unjust. The substantial sums went to Hindu families and the puny amounts to the Muslims.

They have rejected 15% of the population. Mr. Modi has not given a single ticket to a Muslim to contest in the parliamentary elections out of 303 seats they won.

Blatant discrimination. That is not the end of the discrimination. Home Minister Amit Shah has declared 1.9 million people to be not Indians anymore. They made a miscalculation, there were Hindus among them, and now they want to grant citizenship to Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Christians, but deny the same to Muslims.

Silent approval – 114 lynchings have happened in broad daylight with videos taped and shared on WhatsApp. He remained silent. The footage of Ansari who was tortured and severely beaten to death went viral, and the whole nation was outraged, then Modi spoke.

When Nirbhaya and Asifa, the medical student and the six-year-old girl were molested and abandoned in gruesome gang rapes, it took the public outrage for Mr. Modi to speak. Here he goes again! Remaining silent for three days.

Sneakiness – You may call it sneaky or other words to describe his attitude. He openly worships India’s constitution and repeats his vows to uphold it while his men have prepared customized laws for the Hindu Nation.

When everyone is sleeping, he will sneak it on the people of India. Impose curfew, and place the opposition on house arrest and fulfill his dream of becoming Hitler and clean the nation of Christians and Muslims.

Mr. Modi unilaterally abolished article 370 of the constitution without the consent of the people, or not even a due process. His minions had schemed this act by shipping a quarter-million soldiers, blocking communication, shutting down of internet all at one time. Then the bill was passed int the Parliament. I can understand the extremists among Indian Hindus who are rejoicing this mayhem but can never Imagine the Indian Americans supporting this without the consent of the governed. No American should support this. We respect the permission of the people, and we don’t thrust and push our ideas on the unwilling.

Kashmir

A majority of Hindus are opposed to the Hindutva fascist ideology of RSS, and they are afraid to speak up, as the RSS has dogs to bark in unison at them.

“Tragically, Gandhi’s land is now one of the most hate-filled, violent societies on Earth. The state today is in the thrall of using brute power to settle conflicts with one’s people.

The Indian Express wrote an opinion piece that stated, ” What the all-powerful forces seem to ignore is the inalienable truth that the Indian Muslim’s destiny is inextricably tied to that of the country: Both will rise or fall together.”

Mr. Modi has a bad adviser in Amit Shah, who will bring pain to the nation.

Most humans that have taken the extremist posture are redeemable, so is Mr. Modi. As a society, we have to find out if he is redeemable, we have to make that effort. Mother Teresa’s wisdom always reverberates in my mind, that if you want to make peace with those who are opposed to you, she said, talk with them. We should do that.

 Hindutva & Hinduism

The most important message of this section is for humanity to avoid using phrases like Hindu Terrorism and Hindu Terrorist, they are offensive to a majority of Hindus, and rightfully so. As a Muslim, I am offended as well. I have relentlessly fought against the phrases Islamic Terrorism and Muslim Terrorists, as they were offensive to me. These phrases are not only offensive; they are downright stupid; let me explain why.

Even though the word Hindutva has Hindu in its name, it is not Hinduism from any stretch of the imagination. It is a political movement like Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Nazi, right-wing Zionism (not Zionism), Neocons, and others.

The nonstop harassment and lynching of Christians, Muslims, Dalits, Sikhs, Atheists, and others, tempts one to call them, “Hindu Terrorists” or even blame the religion and call it “Hinduism teaches Terrorism.” It amounts to escapism when you shift the blame from the Individual to a belief. You can punish the Individual, and restore justice in the society. Whereas you cannot kill, hang, bury, or shoot the religion as it is intangible, and it amounts to barking in the dark.

The RSS

“The decades of indoctrination of the young and old in the Shishu Mandirs, Vidya Bharati schools, and shakhas — across the country, have come to fruition. Considering that the millions of disciples churned out by these institutions are infused with ultra-nationalistic fervor and extreme anti-minority views, there is a reason for the minorities to be afraid.” Indian Express

 Add Pieter’s statement.

The cult leaders are usually the source of terrorism. People worship them blindly and believe they are equivalent to God. Some of these cult leaders are Osama Bin Laden, Abu Bakr Baghdadi in the case of Islam, and Hedgewar, Veer Savarkar and Guru Golwalker in the case of Hinduism.

In 1925, influenced by the Hindutva ideology of Veer Savarkar, KB Hedgewar laid the foundation of a movement called the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Nagpur, India. RSS has several sub-organizations focused on the same ideology.

The Hindutva movement has been described as “almost fascist in the classical sense,” adhering to a disputed concept of homogenized majority and cultural hegemony. Some argue the fascist label and suggest Hindutva has been an extreme form of “conservatism” or “ethnic absolutism.” Savarkar’s ideology meant the “socio-political force to unite all Hindus against foreign influences” Gavin Ford, a scholar of Hinduism. It is like uniting Christians in America to give a boot to all others who are not Christians that’s what the KKK wants.

Hinduism is a religion, guiding one to live a meaningful life, whereas Hindutva is a political movement claiming Hindu belief to be superior to others. Hinduism guides people towards Moksha or salvation from the conflicts of life and frees you, whereas Hindutva guides people to acquire political power and subjugate all others.” Adopted some parts from Wikipedia.

Hitler and Mussolini have inspired the fountainhead of the Sangh Parivar. “In 2004, when now-Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, school textbooks published by the Gujarat State Board portrayed Hitler as a hero and glorified fascism. The tenth-grade social studies textbook had chapters entitled “Hitler, the Supremo,” and “Internal Achievements of Nazism.” The section on the “Ideology of Nazism” reads: “Hitler lent dignity and prestige to the German government. He adopted the policy of opposition towards the Jewish people and advocated the supremacy of the German race.” Further praising Hitler’s “inspiring leadership,” “achievements” and how the Nazis “glorified the German state” so, “to maintain a German race with Nordic elements, [Hitler] ordered the Jews to be persecuted.” Haaretz

A growing contempt for India’s minorities manifests itself racist remarks passed with casual insouciance.

The number of Jews in India is minimal. There is, despite a long-held belief to the contrary, anti-Semitism. “These Christian missionaries need to be condemned – they are only interested in conversions” is another frequent comment. Only 2.4% of India’s population is Christian. They are constantly attacked. When it comes to India’s Muslims, the accusation is multiplied exponentially.

“There is nothing wrong,” Bal Thackeray said in a chilling interview in 1993 with Time magazine, “if Muslims are treated as Jews were in Nazi Germany.” Citing Hitler’s infamous polemic, he tried to apply fascist ideology in the Indian context. “If you take Mein Kampf and if you remove the word ‘Jew’ and put in the word ‘Muslim,’ that is what I believe in,” he said. This fanatical admiration for Hitler and his genocidal agenda is not an aberration. It was and still is, endemic among the RSS leadership.

We are Our Nationhood Defined a book by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue MS Golwalkar.

“…To keep up the purity of the nation and its culture, Germany shocked the world by her purging the country of Semitic races – the Jews. National pride at its highest has been manifested here. Germany has also shown how well-nigh impossible it is for races and cultures, having differences going to the root, to be assimilated into one united whole, a good lesson for us in Hindustan to learn and profit by,”

Hinduism has always been a pluralistic tradition, and it has welcomed Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Baha’i, Zoroastrianism, and other cultures into its fold. All religions have thrived in India just like they do in the United States.

Yes, when the extremists from the Modi government or its affiliates tell you, that you the Christians and Muslims, will be eliminated from India by the year 2021, you are tempted to call it Hindu Terrorism, and that would be wrong. Hinduism is a beautiful faith, and Hindutva is the extremist political movement.

The solutions:

  1. Reports from the United Nations point to more than 50,000 deaths since 1989 in the area. 214,000 children have been orphaned during the years of conflict.  Civilians continue to experience brutal oppression. “Close to 3,000 people have been detained in Kashmir — many of them children — since Aug. 4,”  The most recent study (2011) shows over 20,000 people have been detained without charges. An unaccounted number of rapes are happening.
    ….
  2. Seven Million people are living in a prison-like environment in Kashmir since August 5, 2019, it’s been more than a month now, and there are no signs of relenting. The complete blockade of communications and freedom of movement has made life unbearable to the people, and they cannot purchase food, medicine, or even know what is happening to their relatives. This blockade needs to end.
    ….
  3. Kashmir is a flashpoint of Indo-Pakistan conflict, and it is a ticking time bomb. Should a nuclear exchange over this land occur, it will result in millions of casualties.
    ….
  4. India is a bulwark for the United States against Chinese expansionism. It needs peace and stability to remain healthy, not social unrest.
    ….
  5. Prime Minister Modi’s actions in Kashmir can unleash a genocide of the Christians, Muslims, Dalits, Sikhs and others, and further lead to a significant setback to American economic and security interests in South Asia.
    ….
  6. As a society, the Indians are degenerating into ruthless beings. Some of them are cherishing the misery unleashed on the Kashmiri People. That is not the kind of culture we want to foster in India or any society.
    ….
  7. A comprehensive solution includes resettling and compensating the Kashmiri Pundits who were moved out of their homes due to the cross-border terrorism prevalent then. The BJP talked about this issue for political mileage and did not resolve the problem when they had three terms of governance. They need to do the right thing.
    ….
  8. The Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Dalits, and others are patiently enduring lynching, abuse, rape, and endless harassment. If there is no solution offered to their suffering, it may lead to chaos and genocide, which may require costly international intervention if the conflict is to be prevented from spreading.
    ….
  9. Mr. Modi and his government must further ensure that every Indian, regardless of religion or ethnicity, will be treated as an equal citizen, protected by legal authorities. and allowed to pursue life, liberty, and happiness.
    ….
  10. The Government of India to allow the Commissioners of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) to visit Kashmir and Assam and enable them to report the facts on the ground.
    ….
  11. The push by the RSS to rebrand India as a Hindu Nation has led some of its members to give an ultimatum to Christians, Muslims and Sikhs to convert to Hinduism, live as 2nd class citizens with no rights or disappear by 12/31/2021. The RSS leadership need to denounce their ideology of annihilating Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, and others and be a part of the community of the civilized nations. Modi’s silence has encouraged this movement.
    ….
  12. Restore 370 to Kashmir, it can be a part of India with full freedoms, and let it be as independent and as defying as the states of Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Kerala, and Gujarat have been.
    ….
  13. Pakistan to release their part of Kashmir the Kashmiris to have similar freedoms on the other side.
    ….
  14. Pakistan to reign in on the terrorists, and promise the Kashmiri people that no more terrorist will come from Pakistani soil. None whatsoever.
    ….
  15. India to take all the military from the civil society and post them on the border, each one to cover 100 feet to prevent the terrorist from entering.
    ….
  16. The Kashmiri people on both Kashmirs should be free to interact and travel.
    ….
  17. In the year 2024, there should be a referendum along with the general elections. Let people have the freedom. Let’s become the nations that honor the contracts.
    ….
  18. India and Pakistan should start the battle to win people’s hearts now. Let the People of Kashmir breathe fresh air and let them know that we are civilized nations and care for their freedom, and we don’t take them for granted.
    ….
  19. Find a solution for the Dalits, remove them from the dehumanizing jobs of carrying sewage, and release them to do jobs that all others do.
    ….

When Vajpayee was the PM, he invited Muslims to join the BJP, it was difficult for Muslims has given the rhetoric BJP had floated. However, I had urged my fellow Muslims to join, if we are a part of his team, we would have some say in the governance. We made that mistake.

All of us dream about a cohesive India where every Indian feels secure about his/ her faith, ethnicity, and culture. Where one if free to eat, drink, wear or believe whatever suits him/her.

Your message will carry enormous weight with the Government of India, and an additional dispatch from the Department of State as well as Ambassador Brownback to this effect will keep our allies — India and Pakistan — from moving towards disaster.

Your timely statement will do miracles. The world would appreciate you and your administration for stopping a possible genocide of Uyghurs, Kashmiris, and Indians if you can act in time.

Ambassador Brownback has reiterated that if people are free from fear, they can focus on nation-building, and everyone will prosper. Religious freedom in the United States is a compelling reason for our prosperity; the world can learn from our experience.

Your message will help promote and restore India’s democracy and freedoms.

It is in India’s interest to ensure religious freedom prevails.

Speech on India’s Pluralistic values

I hope to deliver a full-blown speech on India’s pluralistic ethos. Parts of it have been delivered in different places.

Outline:

  1. Pluralism defined
  2. Pluralism is Islam (Ref: Quran & Hadith)
  3. Hinduism’s Vasudhaiva Kutumbukum
  4. Religious Freedom Prosperity of Nations – Sone ki Chidiya

Pluralism Defined

Pluralism is the development of an attitude of respecting the otherness of the other. You are who you are, and I am who I am.

God has created each one of us to be unique with our thumbprint, eye print, DNA, taste buds. God in the Quran says, had I wanted to create every one alike, I could have done that. But I chose to create humanity into different tribes, communities, nations, races, and by extension belief systems.

He created everything in perfect balance and harmony – look at the universe, the planets, all function precisely as they are programmed (Quran 55:5-11). However, he endowed us with free will for us to create our social harmony.

Pluralism in Islam

God could have made all of us alike, one single race, religion, or a community, but he chose to create us into different races, nations, tribes, and extensions beliefs. (Quran 16:93, 49:13). He knew such uniqueness would create conflicts, and he offered guidance on how to conduct a civil dialogue between different people.

Each one of the six verses of the Sura Kafirun puts two opposite people on the same plane and equal footing. Not once it suggests that the other is inferior or deficient than yours. Finally, it says, to you is your faith, and to me, is my faith.

However, I must warn my fellow humans to be aware of the mistranslations of the Quran. When Muslims read the Quran, they rarely get into the translations, but when non-Muslims read, interpretation or translation becomes the only source of understanding it.

If you are a Christian, Jew, or Hindu, and if you are offended, then you are looking at the foul translation. Indeed, I was offended, too, but in-depth research led me to see the truth. Quran is a book of guidance for all humanity and not exclusively for Muslims. There are 55 translations available in the market, and two are out of line.

God assures every human (yes, every human) that if you serve his creation, that is fellow humans, he will take care of you. Quran 2:62, 5:69, 22:17, and several other verses.

If you are a business owner, all that you want is your employees to protect your business, its income and resources, keep the losses to a minimum. You certainly wish to a harmonious working environment, so your business thrives, and everyone feels secure and productive.

God is no different; he created everything in harmony and expected us to care for everything he has created without exception. That is all God’s will. It does no matter what religions you follow, and he will reward you for taking care of his world.

One of the best examples of Pluralism is the actions of the Prophet. After the conclusion of the Hudaybiyyah peace treaty, Suhayl ibn Amar objected to the names of signatories, he did not agree that Muhammad was the Prophet. Imagine what the response of Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Ali would have been, but the Prophet understood the issue and had his name rewritten as Muhammad, the son of Abdullah. That is respecting the otherness of the other — full story in the book American Muslim Agenda.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbukum

God’s wisdom appears everywhere on the earth and in every community. Indeed, Hinduism’s Vasudhaiva Kutumbukum is identical to the Quran’s words that we are all one family born out of Adam and Eve.

Religious Freedom and the Prosperity of Nations

India has a beautiful record of religious freedom, the kings in the first century onwards welcomed everyone, The Jews and Christians, Muslims and Zoroastrians. They all have flourished along with the majority of Hindus. Once again, India holds the record to be the first land among the nations to have so many religions in one place.

That tradition of religious freedom continued during the Moguls; they did not interfere in the spiritual practices of any faith. Indeed, the great King Akbar had many of the Hindu scriptures translated into other languages giving it a boost to the knowledge contained in the Vedas. Puranas and the epics poems of Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana. From times in memorial, India has contributed towards science, mathematics, medicine and the richness of the world.

The Moguls were native sons of the soil, born and raised in India and took the nation to the new heights of economic development and fostering integration and encouraging interfaith dialogue. During their rule, India had reached its peak in economic and cultural achievements, and it became the world’s largest economy producing 25% of the world’s GDP. India was rightfully called the sonay ki chidiya, the Golden bird during their times.

They also brought most of the smaller kingdoms into one vast nation and had cultivated a strong, stable, and a cohesive India. India was once again one nation.

The Europeans were way behind and started eyeing on India’s wealth. They were not born in India, nor they chose to stay in India and develop the nation. Their focus was robbing the nation’s resources and shipping back to their kingdoms. For the first time, in India’s history, the nation’s wealth and supplies were transferred out of India and continued for the 200 years under their rule.

Innumerable studies have proved that the nations that have the most religious freedom are the most prosperous ones. The United States is a shining example of sustainable prosperity through the practice of freedom (Ref: Can Modi save India listed below).

 Integrated Societies

We believe that every human aspires to live in a cohesive society where he or she feels secure about his/her faith, ethnicity, race, culture, and uniqueness. Everyone should be able to eat, drink, wear, and believe whatever suits him to live his life in the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. That is the hallmark of all civilized nations. When people are free from tensions, they focus on building society.

The prosperity of a nation hinges on religious freedom. India’s success is attributable to its history of religious freedom and social integration. The Hindu Kings had Muslim Generals (The Wadiyar’s and Shivaji), and the Muslim Kings Army chiefs and Chief advisors were Hindus (Akbar, Tipu Sultan). They were secure people.

Muslim poets wrote some of the best bhajans, composed by and sung by Muslims. Likewise, some of the best explanations of Islam came from Hindus, Sikhs, and others. The Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs were secure in their faith and had no hesitation in appreciating ‘the otherness of the other.’ Unfortunately, today, they are afraid of praising the otherness of the other, as if praising them is a betrayal to their faith. How insecure!

A few Hindus are scared to tell Salaam or Eid Mubarak, and a few Muslims won’t say Happy Janmashtami as if they become Muslims or Hindus by saying that.

For nearly half a century, the songs Indians sung everywhere were that of Saigal, Rafi, Mukesh, Talat, Kishore, Suraiya, Lata, Noor Jehan, Asha, and so many others. All of us were their fans, and they were not Muslims or Hindus for us, they were our beloved singers.

Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Shahrukh, Aamir, and others have been our heroes. Until recently, we did not think of them as Hindus or Muslims. Even in sports, Tendulkar, Pataudi, and others were our favorites, and no one gave them a religious tone. What’s happened to us now? We need to feel secure again and drop the communality out of our minds.

Interfaith Marriages have been there for nearly a thousand years. Akbar the great married a Hindu woman Jodha Bai, Sunil Dutt married Nargis, Shahrukh and Aamir Khan have also married Hindu women. We never had a problem with that, because both the Muslims and Hindus felt secure about their faiths. And we did not have fanatic Hindus and fanatic Muslims who placed wedges.

The Pluralism I teach, preach, breath, and live is a gift of India, and I am committed to gift America and the world.

I hope we the people, clean our acts when it comes to the Dalits and the untouchables. They have been mistreated for thousands of years, and it is the one thing about India that should embarrass us. We must do the right thing for our fellow Indians and live without guilt.

It is embarrassing to have experienced and know about it firsthand. The constitution fixed that problem legally in 1950, but the practice has not died down yet. I hope it pains you too.

Re-branding India

The British Raj had screwed our pluralistic ethos. To keep my talk short, I will give the outline, and I expect you to know our history. They did everything to divide and rule and succeeded in making fools out of us. The key milestones of such schemes were evident in the 1857 war of independence, 1871 census and the partition blood bath.

Thanks to Mahatma Gandhi for his efforts to restore India to its instincts of Pluralism. He carefully crafted brand India as the land of Ahimsa, which is non-violence and equality of humanity.

The obligation of Indian Americans

We have an obligation to the land that gave birth and nurtured us. The air, water, and the food from that land run in our veins, and we care about her. Of course, that sentiment is in all of us who were born and raised on the Indian soil.

All of us who were born and raised on the Indian soil, feel a sense of obligation to do something to fellow Indians. Indeed, that is the reason why AFMI is working so hard to uplift the Indians in general. If you uplift one community, you are uplifting the whole nation together.

I could not resist sharing this song that expresses our desires to contribute to India’s wellbeing.

इस धरती पे जिसने जनम लिया
उसने ही पाया प्यार तेरा
यहाँ अपना पराया कोइ नहीं
है सब पे माँ, उपकार तेरा
मेरे देश की धरती…

At this point in history, India is treading on a dangerous path, and we must be aware of the consequences and offer solutions.

Patriotism requires us to be critical of the government and keep them on their feet to prevent them from making disastrous mistakes. Those who choose to kiss, and equate the politicians to God are making a severe mistake and letting the nation go down the spiral. We don’t have to demean ourselves to be the Chamchas (sycophant) of the government, current or any government.

We must stand up for the others.

If we don’t stand up for others, why should anyone stand up for us? We need to stand up for the rights of every Indian, regardless of his or her faith.

We are all one large family irrespective of what we eat, drink, wear, or believe. We must stand up for the rights of all Indians.

The right education.

I cannot live in peace if I frighten others. If we want to build a prosperous India, we need to remove any apprehensions. None of us is an ugly rakshas.

We should quit poisoning our children against each other, and it will screw up their lives when they grow up. We need to focus on giving our children the right education. I am sure my contemporaries, born after Independence, have gone through the same knowledge. In my 6th standard social studies book, in my public Urdu school, I learned about Buddhism, Hinduism, Christians, Islam, Jainism, Sikhism and Judaism – and a page about Buddha, Mahavir, Jesus, Guru Nanak, Prophet Muhammad, and Moses. Did you grow up with similar studies?

Imagine a boy raised in a Madrasa, Muslim, or RSS. He will never say Ramazan Mubarak or Happy Janmashtami to each other as if he will become a Muslim or Hindu by wishing the other. These attitudes are destructive to India’s long term prosperity and security. The man was never taught to be inclusive.

Do you blame Modi or his schooling? Modi could not wish Eid Mubarak to Muslims until someone told him to, of course, inclusion is not in his blood.

Do you blame Modi for not wearing a Muslim cap while he wore every possible headgear on this campaign trail?

Modi did not have any empathy or sympathy when six-year-old Asifa was gang-raped, mutilated, and killed until the whole nation stood up against such ugliness.

Modi had no compassion for Dalit women when they were humiliated or when they are beaten up for acting equals.

He has never experienced how a woman feels if she is abandoned and does not even get financial support. He is trying to do the same for Muslim women when he puts the man in jail for divorcing his wife on the spot.

We have to seriously think about our education system of teaching and practicing the values of Vasudhaiva Kutumbukum. Should we poison our children and let them burn with hatred for the other forever? It will screw up India’s prosperity.

Mr. Modi unilaterally abolished article 370 of the constitution without the consent of the people, without even a due process. I can understand the extremists who are rejoicing this mayhem but can never Imagine the Indian Americans be supporting this without the consent of the governed. No American should support this. We respect the permission of the people, and we don’t thrust and push our ideas on the unwilling.

“What the all-powerful forces seem to ignore is the inalienable truth that the Indian Muslim’s destiny is inextricably tied to that of the country: Both will rise or fall together.” Indian Express.

Hindutva is not Hinduism.

No matter what the extremists do, lynch, harass, rape or beat up, please do not call them Hindu Terrorists. It is very offensive to the overwhelming majority of Hindus, who are full human beings and stand up for righteousness.

Hindutva is a ruthless political movement like Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Nazi, right-wing Zionism (not Zionism), Neocons, and others. They believe they are superior to others, and all others are inferior to them. Same as Nazism.

You can punish the Individual, and restore justice in the society. Whereas you cannot kill, hang, bury, or shoot the religion as it is intangible, and it amounts to barking in the dark.

Please don’t blame religion, any religion, for that matter. Blame the individuals and punish them. That will restore trust in society, blaming religion is like a mad dog barking in the dark with no results. You can punish an individual but not the faith, and it is intangible. You can beat, kick, shoot, hang or bury the religion, then why bark at it?

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Patriotism is uplifting hopes of the people and creating an environment of peace and harmony for them. Patriotism is not fighting wars and killing each other. We should never elect a leader who does not have a plan for peace and prosperity.

Every public office holder from the Peon to the President of India and everyone in-between must consider taking this pledge and live by it. The violation should disqualify him or her from holding the public office.

  1. I pledge allegiance to India, a unified nation that stands for liberty and justice for all.
  2. I pledge that I honor and treat every Indian with “full” dignity.
  3. I pledge that all Indians would be treated as equals.
  4. I pledge that I will treat all religions with equal respect, equal access, and fair treatment.
  5. I pledge that I will oppose any act that treats any Indian less than myself.
  6. I Pledge that I will work for an India, where every individual can live with security and aspire for prosperity.
  7. I pledge that I will protect, preserve and value every inch of India and every human soul in India

AFMI Conference in Columbus

AFMI 29th Annual Conference

Columbus, Ohio, September 28, 2019 — The American Federation of Muslims of Indian origin, held their 29th annual conference with a theme of contributions of Indian Muslims to world Heritage.

If all the 1.25 billion Indians were attending this event, they would have cherished the Indian Muslims for highlighting the pluralistic ethos of India. Speaker after speaker was talking about building a cohesive India that cares and uplifts each one of the 1.25 billion Indians. The final remarks summed up by Dr. Nakadar with the prayer God bless America, and God bless India resonated with most people.

AFMI’s noble mission is to help Muslims in India contribute towards the social, political, and economic development of India through increased education. Indeed, since 1989, the year AFMI took its first step, the literacy rate of Muslims in India has risen from 30% to 70% now. AFMI has been one of the catalysts in these significant achievements. AFMI board members predict the number to rise to 75% in the next census to catch up with India’s overall rate of 75% literacy.

From times immemorial, India has contributed towards science, mathematics, medicine, and the richness of the world through knowledge.

The Moguls were native sons of the soil, born and raised in India and took the nation to new heights of economic development and fostering integration and encouraging interfaith dialogue. During Mogul rule, India had reached its peak achievement, and it became the world’s largest economy producing 25% of the world’s GDP. India was rightfully called the sonay ki chidiya, the Golden bird during their times.

They also brought most of the smaller kingdoms into one vast nation and had cultivated a strong, stable, and a cohesive India.  India was one nation under their rule.

The Moguls also ushered into a Golden period of translations of the Indian wisdom of Vedas, Puranas, and other books into other languages and internationalized the knowledge.

The Europeans were way behind and started eyeing on India’s wealth. They remained foreigners, were not born in India nor chose to stay and develop the nation. Their focus was on grabbing the resources and shipping back to their kingdoms.  Indeed, for the first time in India’s history, the nation’s wealth was transferred out of India, and the loot continued for the next 200 years until we got our independence.

We had to reshape the future, and my focus in the next few paragraphs is on education.

Thanks to Mahatma Gandhi for his efforts to restore India to its ethos of Pluralism. He carefully crafted brand India as the land of Ahimsa, which is non-violence and equality of humans. Dr. Ambedkar enshrined the secular ideals of Pandit Nehru, Unified India’s dream of Sardar Patel and the pluralistic vision of Maulana Azad into our constitution.

Maulana Azad was tasked to build educational institutions of higher learning that propelled India to be a force to reckon. Today, India is a leading nation in the world software development, and our Engineers and Doctors are serving humanity across the globe. We have achieved that through meticulous planning and focusing on education.

However, the Indian Muslims were left behind during the British period. Sir Syed Ahmed noted this over a century ago, and initiated modern education for Muslims to catch up with the other communities of India.

One person usually initiates all the good things in a nation. Then others join and add more to the goodness. The poet Majrooh Sultanpuri wrote this eternal couplet to describe social movements.

Main akela hi chala tha janib-e-manzil magar
Log saath aate gaye aur karwaan banta gaya

Indeed, that Akela person who walked towards the Manzil was Dr. Nakadar. Others joined him, and the AFMI movement started – The American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin.  The founding members committed themselves to turn around the literacy rate among Indian Muslims, and they saw the salvation of Muslims through education. If you uplift one community, it raises the whole nation. All of us rise and fall together. Thirty years ago, the year AFMI embarked on its mission, the Muslim literacy rate was 30%, and it is 70% now. They have been a significant catalyst in bringing a positive change to India.

Dr. Nakadar and his fellow trustees and board members are witnessing their efforts bear the fruit in their lifetime.  What a joy it is!  You can join them and see your effort bear fruit in your lifetime.

I become a fan of AFMI in 1996 at their annual event in Dallas, Texas. Here is one short story from that event worth pondering. Taj Syed and I were assigned to receive Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu from the airport and care for them during their stay. When we checked them into the Omni Hotel in Richardson, Texas. Saira Banu seemed annoyed by the hotel room, she started picking up the pillows and flipping them as if there were some clues in it. She said, “Mujhe yahan Nahin rahna hai,” Of course, I can understand that it was a three-star hotel, but the only hotel close to the conference center.  I panicked and started reaching out to Akram Syed, the key organizer.

Dilip Kumar Saheb patted on my shoulder from the back, as I was watching Saira Banu’s frustration with the pillows. He asked me, “If we were to stay here where would such savings go?”  I looked up at him and said, Dilip Saheb, “A program bachchon ki taleem ke liye hai, paise waheen jayeinge.”

He pondered for a few seconds, in typical Dilip Kumar style, and called on Saira, “Saira, hum yahein rahienge, jo paise bachte hain of bachchon ki taleem ke liye jayeinge.” She made the face, and reluctantly agreed to his persuasive language.

From that day, Dilip Kumar became a big human being for me and my respect for him knew no bounds. What a great man he was! He could have demanded a five-star hotel but was willing to stay in a three-star hotel as it benefited the children. What a humble couple. May God make more Dilip Kumars.  There were a few other beautiful incidents, that I will share in the next meeting, Insha Allah.

Keynote speakers
Padma Bhushan Masood Raza
Dr. Angana Chatterjee
Dr. A R Nakadar

I see another great leader in Padma Bhushan Masood Raza Saheb, it is amazing what he has done. His language was pure pluralism. He was citing the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna to make a point. That is when I decided to give him my poem “Achche din Kab Aayeienge?” as it weaves through different religions.  Dr. Angana Chatterjee’s talk was about Human rights, empathy for the pain of others and the incredible research work she is doing at Berkley. Dr. Nakadar’s commitment to serving fellow humans is inspiring. He remained dedicated to the purpose of education and we see the results. God bless them all.

Ramadan for Non-Muslims – Eid Mubarak

Comments Off on Ramadan for Non-Muslims – Eid Mubarak

Whether you are an Atheist, Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Native American, Pagan, Shinto, Sikh, Wicca, and Zoroastrian or from any other tradition, you may feel a sense of connection with the spirit of Ramadan.

Mouthwatering food pictures and a few celebratory pictures included.

The best way to build cohesive societies is for its members to understand each other’s sorrows and joys, and festivities and commemorations. Wouldn’t it be nice if you know a little bit about your neighbor’s festival and perhaps invite them to your celebrations? When we live in a community, we might as well learn about each other.

Almost all people celebrate something or the other in their way, each one is different, but the essence is the same, that is celebrations and commemorations. Festivities bring people together. Here we explore Ramadan, one of the major festivals of Muslims.

You can wish your Muslim friends “Eid Mubarak” Happy Eid, Ramadan Mubarak, Eid-al-Fitr Mubarak… or just Happy Ramadan will do.

Rituals signify the milestones in our daily lives. Every significant moment of the day is a ritual.  Every faith is composed of a set of unique rituals to bring discipline and peace to human life. Fasting is one of the five essential rituals that Muslims around the world observe.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is generally observed with a ritual precision; it is an annual training or a refresher. It requires one to abstain from food, drink, intimacy, ill-will, ill-talk, ill-actions and other temptations from dawn to dusk, every day for the whole month. One has to rise above his or her baser desires. Islam gifts this month to its followers to teach discipline to bring moderation to their daily lives.

Although Ramadan is popularly known in the west for its culinary delicacies and fancy iftars, the spirit and intent of Ramadan lie in a human transformation in a month-long inner spiritual journey of finding oneself in tune with spirituality.

Hindus can see that transformation in nine days of fasting during Navaratri, the Jains in 8-10 days of fasting during Paryushana, Christians during 40 days of lent, Jews for seven days around Yom Kippur, and likewise you find fasting is a way of life in most traditions.

God has no need for the hunger or thirst of someone who hurts others, violates their dignity, or usurps their rights.  The consciousness of behavior and vigilance over action are the most profound dimensions of fasting: the fasting of the heart focuses on the attachment to the divine. That is when Ramadan becomes a source of peace and solace, just as Christmas or Dussehra goes beyond the rituals to bring forth kindness, charity, and caring.

True fasting is self-purification, and from this comes an abundant inner life that brings about values such as justice, generosity, patience, kindness, forgiveness, mercy, and empathy — values that are indispensable for the success of the community.

For fasting to be truly universal, its benefits must extend beyond the fraternal ties of Muslims and must continue to forging a common humanity with others. Fasting is meant to impart a sense of what it means to be truly human, and its observance reflects its universality in Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Sikh, Zoroastrian and other faiths.

THE DAY OF EID

The number of days one fast corresponds with the Moon cycle, which varies from 29 to 30 days in a given month.  At the end of the fasting period, it is time to celebrate! It is thanking the creator, observing a disciplined life, and rewarding yourselves.

To make your celebration wholesome and guilt-free, you thank the Lord for your blessings and share a portion of your income with the underprivileged, so they can also celebrate along with you. When you uplift others, your spirit is lifted as well. The idea is to fill the environment with positive energy.  Paying zakat is one of the most important duties of a Muslim. Zakat is like income tax, and it is roughly 2.5% of your earnings. However, it’s voluntary and an honor system.

Chand Raat – When you see the pencil-thin moon on the horizon, it signals the end of fasting and the start of celebrations. The evening is shopping spree and gifts are bought for the loved ones.

Eid – festivity.  The whole community gathers up in the morning around 9.00 AM, wearing new clothes, new perfume and thanking Allah for completing the blessed month of Ramadan.

Practices differ in each town. In Dallas, Texas, they rent the Auto Exhibit hall in Fair Park or the Convention hall that seats about 25,000 people, together they pray and celebrate the festivity. They do the same in Louisville, Ky.  In Yelahanka, my hometown, a suburb of Bangalore where I was born and raised. The entire town gathered at the Masjid and walked about a Mile to the Eidgah – a place for large congregations.

Back in the late 70’s Bollywood film actor Mehmood lived near my town, and he invited his friends for Eid celebrations at his home. Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, and other actors joined in the Eid prayers with Mehmood.

Eid is also a day to pray for the deceased; almost all Muslims visit the cemeteries and pray for their loved ones. It is one of the most beautiful prayers that seek forgiveness for all humanity, for the living, and the deceased. The Navkar Mantra of Jains is very close to this Muslim prayer.

Most Muslims visit the Cemetary on the day of the Eid. You can visit any cemetery to pray for the loved one buried anywhere. And pray for the entire humanity by using the words for the deceased and the alive.

Typically, it is a day to clean your slate, seek forgiveness from the ones you have hurt or forgive those who have hurt you. When you see Muslims hugging each other, it is washing off ill-will from their hearts for each other.

THE FOODS

A request to our friends from across the world –  the cuisine I have included is from South Asia. InshaAllah, next year, if you send me the pictures of your cuisine from any part of the world, including our Native American brothers and sisters to MIkeGhouse@gmail.com, I will put together a comprehensive article with foods from around the world.

The most popular dessert of Ramadan in South Asia is “Dum ke Saviyan” (Sauteed vermecellis), and “Sheer Qurma” – that is vermicelli’s cooked with milk, cashew, raisins, and other dry fruits. My favorite! I drink it as a beverage!

Biryani is the most popular food in South Asia, and it is the dish prepared to honor your guest. There are varieties of Biryanis like Kashmiri, Lahori, Multani,  Bengali, Punjabi, Kabul, Rangoon, Colombo (Sri Lanka), Bombay, Delhi, Lucknow, Bangalore, Kerala, Goa, and Hyderabad. The best of all the biryanis is the Dum ki Biryani from Hyderabad, it is the way it is cooked, the spices are evenly distributed, the moisture remains consistent and the rice is usually fluffy and the meat melts in your mouth. If you have not eaten Hyderabadi Biryani, you have not eaten good food. Goat Biryani is the most common item in South Asia, and am sure each one of the countries in the world has their own. My native American Muslim friends make things out of corn.

Bhuna Gosht – Grilled Mutton- My favorite. My late wife Najma used to mix rice with the nearly burnt sauce at the bottom and hand feed me… I can never forget those romantic moments.

Cooked Keema – delicious with the Paratha

Anday ka Salan – Egg curry

This is paratha – layers of puffed pastry. What a joy it is to eat with the Keema

Mirchi ka Salan

Baghare-Baigan (Egg plant)

Dum ke Saviyan – Sauteed Vermicellis

Dum ke Saviyan – Sauteed Vermicellis with fruits

Sheer Qurma – I make it more liquidy and drink it as a beverage in a cup.

Most people have an open house on the day of the Eid, check with your Muslim friends and visit them and enjoy the fellowship and food.

I have kept the article brief to keep with within 1000 words if you would like to see Eid pictures from around the world – send me an email to MikeGhouse@gmail.com – I will send you the links.

Dealing with Teens on DC Metro

Comments Off on Dealing with Teens on DC Metro

THE MAN SAID, PICK IT UP

5/31/19- A bunch of teens threw cans and bottles on the floor of the metro train in DC, I was taken back with that behavior.  I resisted videotaping the situation and instead chose to take action.

I talked with my fellow passengers to support me as I was going to tell the teens to behave. A few told me not to bother, I said, let me handle it.

I looked at the kids and asked them to pick up the cans. One of them protested and said, who the f are you. I increased the volume of my sound, I said pick it up, they looked at me, without losing a second, I repeated, pick it up now, and five of my fellow passengers said in unison. The man said to pick it up.

The kids leaned forward and picked up the cans. I said I want to appreciate you guys for doing that and opened up my arms to give a hug. The kids surprised me and walked up to me to give that hug.  There are so many people out there who respond to caring, and this is not the first time it has happened. Once, I was speaking at the JCC in Dallas, and a Holocaust Survivor was concerned about what was going on, I walked up to him and gave a hug – you should have seen how relieved the man was. He assumed Muslims would not do that, and he was wrong about that.

Back to the kids, “Look, no one wants to hear what to do, neither do you, next time if you don’t trash your place, no one will say a thing to you. You are good kids.

The crowd cheered the kids.

DC Metro is clean, and we all can make an effort to keep it clean.  All of us, the Washingtonians, need to take pride in our city, our busses, trains and everything about your city.

Narendra Modi’s speech and political pluralism

Comments Off on Narendra Modi’s speech and political pluralism

Published several places including counter currents
https://countercurrents.org/2019/05/narendra-modis-speech-and-political-pluralism

Whenever I can, I listen to the speeches of political leaders and I have done the same with a few speeches of Prime Minister Modi. The following video is about 70 minutes long. The speech was made around May 24, 2019.

Prime Minister Modi is unquestionably one of the greatest orators of this decade. I watched his full speech to the NDA – that is the National Democratic Alliance made up of BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) and regional parties.

He rightfully acknowledged the contributions of Dr. Ambedkar who gave the constitution and acknowledged the sacrifices of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Then he added Veer Savarkar as a contributor to the spirit of independence and that is to please the base, as Veer Savarkar is one of the guys who sowed the seeds of discord and promoted ill-will towards fellow Indians. If someone hates a fellow Indian because he is a Muslim or a Christian, it was because of wrongful propaganda of Veer Savarkar, Golwalker and a handful of others. I wish they had believed in freedom and respect for the otherness of the other. We cannot blame them for what they did, but at least we should not repeat their mistakes.

PM Modi talked about Sab ka saath, sab ka Vikas, a great slogan, and added sab ka Vishwa’s – that is the trust. Together with all, prosperity for all and confidence of everyone. He missed the opportunity to achieve that, or he may not have meant it. He has to clarify that.

PM Modi, could have laid out a plan in a few words how to achieve everyone’s trust, urging his base to give up on lynching, harassing and making the life difficult for ‘minorities’ and have a national day where all Indians come together and celebrate unity. Take a pledge that each one of us will contribute towards building goodwill among fellow Indians and not ill-will.

Overall the speech was good but severely deficient, as it was not the speech to Indians, but a speech to his base. He delivered them the red meat.

He urged the audience to speak up when they see something wrong, and my first response was Mr. Prime Minister, let that begin with you, you take the lead and speak up when there is a rape, when someone is lynched, harassed or beaten up in daylight. Don’t wait for three days to stop the damage. Much of the crimes would go away if you speak up instantly. What holds you from speaking? He has to earn the trust of all to bring sustainable prosperity to all.

Do you agree, the most patriotic person is the one who keeps the government on their toes and prevent them from making mistakes? You do your share, and I will do mine because I care about every Indian, and my work would bring Indians together and not pit one against the other.

The Prime Minister can start with one simple step – open the speech with Namaste, Jai Bhim, Salaam, Satsri Akal, Jai Jinendra, Buddha Namo, AlahAbho and Shalom. That is how you start to sab ka saath, the saath of 1.25 billion Indians in one single sweep.

CAIR – Community Appreciation Iftar

Comments Off on CAIR – Community Appreciation Iftar

Tuesday, May 14, 2019 – Washington, DC – The Council on American Islamic Relations released their report, “Hijacked by Hate” in community appreciation dinner at Tyson’s Sheraton in VA. It is worth reading – how much money is doled out to spread hate. ACT for America, for instance, is committed to pit one American against the other and sow discord among Americans.  CFP – Center for Pluralism, on the other hand, was formed to bring Americans together.

CAIR is about defending the civil rights of Americans; indeed, every community in America needed – there is a civil rights organization for women, African Americans, Hindus, Jews, Sikhs, Atheists, Bahai’s that I know of. The rights that you and I have, that we take for granted, would not have been there, had it not for the civil rights organizations.

I congratulate each organization for upholding the constitution. I particularly commend CAIR for bringing an injection to signing a pledge of loyalty in Texas.  Please visit their website for details www.Cair.com

2019 CAIR HIGHLIGHTS

Won a landmark anti-BDS lawsuit in Texas
Organized 270 Congressional visits and meetings
Issued 2019 Islamophobia report
4,705 Civil Rights complaints in 2018

… and more

Obama, the great communicator

OBAMA, THE GREATEST COMMUNICATOR

I see criticism of Obama in the two tweets pictured below, highlighted in red. What a few have failed to see is the essence of this message is communicating sympathy for the victims.

If Obama had said, “Juma or Friday worshippers” instead of Muslim community, how many would have understood them to be Muslims? Still, there are 64% of Americans who have no idea about Muslim prayers. Most people don’t know who worships on Friday.picture courtesy – Brookings institution

In case of using the phrase Easter worshippers instead of Christians, the immediate response would have been hatred towards others instead of empathy towards the families and the victims. He chose the right words.

A great leader communicates well to evoke empathy towards victims and not hatred in the same breath; he suggests solutions and not aggravate people. We need to capture the criminals and grill them to find all their connections, instead of removing evidence by killing them. There is an excellent proven story of a Yemeni judge as a successful example of this method. It is in the book, American Muslim Agenda available at Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Google, and other places.

Note: I am not a Democrat or a Republican but an independent voter. I enjoy my freedom in seeing good, bad and ugly in both the party members.
