MUSLIM PLANS FOR JULY 4, 2016 | World Muslim Congress

You have to read the full story about July 4th, to fully grasp the 2016 July 4th plan.

Muslims and Americans: a shared heritage since July 4, 1776.
http://worldmuslimcongress.blogspot.com/2015/07/july-4th-and-muslim-americans-tipu.html
———

Please note that an overwhelming majority of American Muslims
live up to the ideals of their religion to live and let live, and to mind their own business as all other Americans live up to the
ideals of their religions. But there is an anomaly formula built into every group. It is always a 1/10th of 1% of people in every group who don’t get their religion right, be it racial, regional or religional.

Let’s focus on what represents the ideals of 99.90% of humanity.

In August 1776 the
Mysore gazette reports Tippu celebrating July 4th. The other nations who
recognized our independence were king of Morocco and king of France; two Muslim
nations were among the first three to recognize American independence.
Our plan is to be
fully integrated in our society; these are the some of the small steps that
each individual can take, leading to building a cohesive America.
Most us, be it Indians
and or Muslims, know very little about fellow Americans who were born and
raised here. The other way around is equally legitimate. Most of us have
remained on side lines and in our own silos….
We are afraid to go in
to certain neighborhoods, we even lock the doors of the car firmly, guess what,
the others are equally afraid of us.
When we learn about each
other, myths fade and solutions emerge.
To resuscitate our
combined heritage between the United States, India and the Muslims, I propose
celebration of July 4th to honor the pluralistic ethos of India with Prophet
Muhammad’s pluralistic Medina Charter.
Consider these:
  1. America is blessed with 318 Million Souls
  2. At least about 3.2 Million souls are Muslims
  3. That is for every Muslim, there are 100
    non-Muslims in America.

What can we do?

We can do a lot of things, but the simplest
among all is – to mail a post card or a personal email.

The card will be simple, and invites fellow
Americans to have a hot dog or hamburger at your place or park or a mosque on
July 4th

How many will attend? One, two or three,
everyone has his or her own things to do on that day, but how many will receive
the post card? 100!

If we do this every year, there is a chance that
we would have met at least 10 out of 100 – but all of them have received a
card.

July 4th is the most patriotic
holiday and we owe it to America to make this nation strong and safe and
respectful of all of us.

What is the cost? Not much compared to the
results

There will be do’s and don’t
a.  There is so much to talk about you, your kids, family, crime, job, education… the new freeway, green technology….

b.   Don’t sell your religion, no matter what the temptation is.

c.    Don’t discuss religion – it is guaranteed to mess it up, you will be too eager to present your religion as the best in so many sneaky ways, and it will mess up all the good you do.

d.    Don’t discuss politics; you’ll regret it no matter how smart you are.

e.    If you are unable to resist selling religion, please remember clearly that Islam is superior to you, and not to them. If you sell Islam, please remember your own limitations, they don’t see it, nor will you see the beauty of their religion.

f.     Become the Amin of the society – Prophet had good relations with all of humanity, did he not? People trusted him; they believed he was just, and honest. They felt safe around him… can we follow him

Mike Ghouse speaks on Commitment, Akhira and the power of Engagement

Comments Off on Mike Ghouse speaks on Commitment, Akhira and the power of Engagement
POWER OF ENGAGEMENT | World Muslim Congress.com
http://nabsites.net/demo/mike-ghouse-speaks-on-commitment-akhira/

This is the outline of my speech at the Plenary
session of AMU conference,  “Intellectual crisis of the Muslim Ummah;
Rethinking traditions solutions” held at Aligarh Muslim University on
April 6 and 7th in 2015.

PREFACE

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was a visionary, who understood the issues and
hopelessness of the Umma after the fall of the last Mogul.  He knew modern education was the only way to
pull the community out of the quagmire.

He took the bold steps to establish the educational institution despite the
opposition and hurdles. It is perhaps the first “Muslim” university
in the world where Muslims were taught subjects other than memorizing Quran and
Hadiths. He paved the Middle path for us with Deen and Duniya together
that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) had advocated.

We went back in to slumber and remained
dormant for nearly a hundred years.  Thanks to the VC General Zameeruddin Shah, Pro-VC Brig Ahmed Ali
and Professor Rashid Shaz for having the courage to resuscitate that
vision and bring critical thinking back to AMU. We have to admire the staff and
volunteers who supported them without any reserve.

I pray that AMU will become one of the high profile Muslim
Universities in the world, and hope we all can pitch in to make that happen.  I am not an Alumni of AMU, but my spirit has always
been with AMU since I learned about Sir Syed in my school days. I was
completely surprised when my sister in Bangalore told me that it was her dream
to be at AMU campus as well.   Insha Allah,
her dream may come true next time when I visit the campus, hopefully to speak
about Pluralism in Islam.

I believe AMU was looking for critical thinkers who can challenge the
prevailing practices and take the Ummah forward to live the God given life
on this earth to the fullest possible extent.

PART-I: COMMITMENT
Salam Friends.

Has anything ever happened by itself? No matter what it is, getting a job,
raising a family, going to war, building cohesive societies,  going to moon or coming to Aligarh – someone
caused it.

This
conference would not have happened by itself; it needed a driver with passion
and a strong commitment.

Ray Bradbury had once said, “Until
one is committed, there is hesitancy… Concerning all acts of initiative (and
creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless
ideas and splendid plans: the moment one definitely commits oneself, then
Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never
otherwise have occurred.… Whatever you can do or dream that you can do, begin
it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

When you are not committed, and if something goes wrong, your attitude would be,
“ I knew it, I knew, it was not going to work out  for me” or “I should have listened to my
friends” and on and on… you find every excuse to justify the small set back to
get out of the situation.

Let me ask you this, if you fail yourselves, why should anyone give you a pass?
Why should anyone support you if you are hesitant?

Dr.
Abdul Hamid Abusulayman beefs it up, “There is a clear distinction between
doubts and problems. Doubts provoke obstruction, frustration and
discouragement, where as problems inspire motivation, action and diligence

On the other hand when you are committed, and if
things go wrong,  your
attitude would be “Oh, I have to do this to get there, hurdles will not be hurdles
any more, but become stepping stones to get to the destination with all the
detours.

One of the greatest examples of commitment was delivered by Tariq Bin Ziyad;
when he crossed the Gibraltar Channel, he burned the ships. There was no going
back, period.

Such is the power of commitment and let’s give a big round of applause
to Dr. Shaz, his staff, volunteers and the management of AMU for their strong
commitment to make this event possible, and guess what, Aghaz to acha hai, and
Anjaam will have to be shaped by each one of us.

Congratulations Dr. Shaz, God
is with you, and indeed, we are with you!

PART II – FREEDOM
This
conference, “Intellectual Crises of the Muslim Ummah: Rethinking
Traditional Solutions” is a timely event. Today, we are at cross roads of
leaving behind 100 lousy years of post-colonial trauma, and setting up the next
100 years.  This is the time for us to
shape our destiny…

And it begins with freedom.  When Adam
and Eve were given the options and consequences for each action, God gave them
complete freedom and stuck to his words.

When Adam and Eve chose to eat the forbidden fruit… God knew they were wrong,
but God did not get mad, or slapped them left and right… instead, he accepted
their choice, he did even not stop them… Friends, we are born with freedom and
we must live with freedom. There is no compulsion in what you believe, and we
must value freedom as the most important value of Islam.

PART IV – AKHIRA AND HAZIRA
One of the major flaws in our thinking is our misplaced focus on
Akhira. We need to invest our time in fixing this flawed thinking and change
the future of Muslim Ummah.
We
have a choice to be herded, or shape our own destiny.  We need to boldly challenge what is taught to
us in our mosques. God has given us this life to live it to the fullest, and
not throw it away for Akhira.

I have not been to a Mosque in Aligarh yet, but every Mosque I have been to,
keeps pounding on Akhira. Life is a trust given to us, and how can we do
qiyanat with it, how can we jump to Akhira without living the Hazira? How can
we cheat the present for the future? We need to be honest with today to be
truthful with tomorrow.

When you are talking to your parent or child, how do you feel if he or she is
thinking something else… instead of being with you, he or she is somewhere
else? That is how God would feel, he gave us this life to live, and instead of
living it, we are jumping to the Akhira.

The Akhira is a poor excuse for those who are unable and incapable to deal with
what is given, and simply find refuge in Akhira. Next time you hear someone
talk about Akhira, please tell them that it is a poor excuse for not making
good of this life, and Akhira is sequence after Hazira and we cannot jump to Akhira
without living the Hazira.

PART V – POWER OF ENGAGEMENT

How many of you have heard about Fox News?
How many of you have heard about Sean Hannity? He is the 2nd
most popular talk show host in the United States.  He is one of the most hated guys not only by
Muslims but the progressives as well.

The story I am about to tell is an eye opener and hopefully change your
mind.  I call this the power of
engagement, when you engage with people there is always a chance to bring about
a change. If you don’t, you don’t even have a chance.  I did not have to go to China to learn this,
I learned right here from Mother Teresa, she said, “If you want to bring peace,
go talk with your enemy.” Indeed, that is the truth.

When I go back to the States, I will be doing my 100th appearance on
his TV show and probably 50+ on his National talk show radio.

Two
major things have happened thru this engagement; He has stopped attacking Quran
in the last two years and had agreed to (but has failed a few times) to use the
phrase “Radicals among Muslims” instead of “Radical Muslims.” It was a huge
concession!  Furthermore, the biggest
accomplishment for Muslim community through his promise was the change in the
tone of several of the right wingers.
Representative Peter King, Chairman of the Homeland Security said this
on April 15, 2013 when CNN camera honed on him in the evening right after the
Boston Marathon bombing…

ROHINI SALIAN, INDIA’S NEW HERO | www.TheGhousediary.com
http://nabsites.net/demo/rohini-salian-we-salute-you-you-are/

 A great country
ensures her population enjoys a sense of security, where each person feels
safe. Every now and then a few short-sighted men take short cuts to justice
cutting themselves short, besides others in the process.  When things go
astray, out of control, Lord Krishna had predicted, and to me it sounds like
the law of nature, that someone from among us will appear and restore Dharma.
These are men and women who see a big picture and not a selfish “me, me
and me only.”  Here comes Rohini Salian, the woman we need to salute.

Courtesy
Indian News – India’s New Hero; Rohini Salian, standing up for Justice
Nothing
in the universe is sustainable if it loses its balance, be it physical,
metaphysical, social or spiritual. Balance is the other word for Justice, and
becomes the solid foundation for any society to exist in harmony.
A
healthy society can be defined by how well it functions together, where no
member of the society has to live in apprehension, discomfort, or fear of the other.
India
is no exception; it has gone thru much turmoil and imbalance in its history and
deserves a nationwide reconciliation virus to eat out the bad breath and clean
us all out.
In
virtually all cases around the world, as in India, a few loud mouths from among
the majority usurp the authority of the majority and speak as if the whole
nation is speaking. The Majority cannot be senseless and devoid of justice, it
is just that they do not have the courage to speak out against the bullies from
among them.
Here comes one such hero in India; Rohini Salian, a public prosecutor in
the Malegaon case, who has impacted the history of justice in India.
Here
are the excerpts from the Editorial at Indian Express dated June 26, 2015;
“The
Malegaon blast case of 2008 marked a sobering and cautionary moment, even a
turning point, in terror investigations in the country. Till then, such cases
invariably featured young Muslim men as accused, and even though convictions
were rare and the wheels of the criminal justice system turned slowly and in
tortuous ways, they confirmed the pattern – and also the stereotype – of terror
being a crime perpetrated by those belonging to one religion. But the Malegaon
probe – by Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), led by Hemant Karkare, who
was killed during 26/11 – pointed in a different direction. As first reported
by this paper in October 2010, it led to alleged Hindu extremists based in
Indore. A new phenomenon – some named it “Hindu terror” – seemed to
be calling for serious attention and investigation. In asking for a resetting
of the viewfinder, the Malegaon case also sent an important signal to the
minority community and to all those with a stake in the rule of law in a
diverse country. It was this: terror investigations would not be pre-determined
by congealed prejudices; they would go where the evidence led them. “

What a relief! As Indians of all hues, we welcome the above editorial and the
work of Rohini Salian; now take a look at the dirty politics rearing its ugly
head again to destroy Justice and dharma in India.

Rohini
Salian reveals this to the Indian Express in an interview that ever since
“the new government came to power”, she has been under pressure from
the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which took over from the ATS, to go
“soft” in the case, some disquieting questions have been resurrected.
I
urge Mr. Modi to assertively say, “Justice is the corner stone of our Raj
dharma” with the ultimate goal of all Indians to live cohesively without
fear of one or the other. “I am not going to tolerate any such ugly influences
in my government, Justice must prevail.” Modi can do one more thing right;
invite the media to investigate all such influences that leads us into adharma.
The
Ball is in Modi’s court now – does he want to remain quite or speak up with the
God given tongue? Let it not be too late.

No matter how ugly the truth is truth shall set us all free. We have to learn
and to acknowledge and reflect upon the terrible things we have inflicted upon
each other and have to commit to ourselves to resist the temptations to be
prejudiced and stereotype others. We cannot demand peace unless we are peaceful
ourselves.

There
is a shameless cruelty in us, either we shy away from facing or refuse to
acknowledge the sufferings of others, worrying that it will devalue our own or
somehow it amounts to infidelity to our own cause. We cannot justify falsities,
and arrogantly believing that the others are always trouble makers. This mind
set has got to go.
Let
me quote the wisdom of a Native American Chief, “All things are connected.
Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. Man did not weave the
web of life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the webs, he does
it to himself.”
Hate
is one of the many sources of disrupting peaceful functioning of a society and
it is our duty, both individually and collectively, to track down the source of
such hate and mitigate it. Indeed, each one of us needs to do our share of
work. This hate takes many avatars including anti-Semitism, anti-Minorityism,
anti-polytheism, Islamophobia, anti-Idol Worshiping, anti-Atheism, racism,
misogyny, homophobia, Islamophobia, anti-others, and other ailments of the
society. Untreated, they will erupt in violent and hostile expressions like
crusades, inquisitions, 9/11, terrorism by individuals, communal riots,
Holocaust, genocides, and massacres.
When
you lose the balance, it keeps losing it to the point of destruction of
everyone, both the oppressors and the oppressed.
Our
safety hinges on the safety of others around us, and it behooves us to work for
the safety and security of others in India. I am proud of India and the
conscience of her majority, if it were not for their sense of righteousness,
India would have been in a worse shape and I am proud of our Media, fulfilling
their role in ensuring that the Dharma prevails at the end. I applaud the
Indian Media.
Satyameva Jayate.

Bad Islamic Books fabricated by Muslim scholars need to be shelved

Bad Islamic Books | The Ghouse diary.com

My conservative friend Ryan Mauro asked, “What actions should be taken when mosques include these materials in their libraries as authoritative texts, though? ” The response should be consistent with freedom, “Those books should be locked up and made available for research, and or labeled “Questionable book – finding the truth is your own responsibility”.

Kali maa and infinite multi-tasking, and our inability to say, do or write about many things in one breath.

Comments Off on Kali maa and infinite multi-tasking, and our inability to say, do or write about many things in one breath.
Not a day passes without someone accusing you of not
including his or her issue in your talk, write up or act. Per the legend, only
a woman, Kali Maa could perform many tasks at one time, she has multiple heads
and hands to do that.  When Obama speaks, no matter how good his
presentation is, there is always a group – anxiously waiting for him to recite
their name, and everything else is meaningless to them if their group is not
mentioned.

It’s not only Obama, everyone in the community service, a Pastor, Pundit,
Imam, Father, Rabbi, Gyaniji, Shaman or a religious head is also put to
the same tests. During the month of Ramadan, I have heard a few Imams who drag
their prayers to include every representation, and take a very long time to
recite such inclusive prayers, yet that would not be enough.

You are not an exception to such treatment and neither am I, and here is my
experience.

One of the three major annual events we hold is Holocaust and Genocides.
Given the 2 hours program, we divide it up into three segments; 30 Minutes for
Holocaust and 20 minutes for a Genocide (of the 50 Genocides on our list), and
20 minutes for a Massacre, the rest of the time goes for other chores.

Two years ago, we included a skit in the program to knock off the consistent
complaints. In the skit, I would go on the podium and start speaking, “Today,
we are going to talk about Holocaust, Sikh Genocide and Gaza Massacre… “Immediately
an individual who was assigned to play my father’s role would walk up to me and
slap hard on my face… and I fall on the floor.

He takes over the microphone and says, “I cannot believe you my son, I did not
teach you to exclude others and talk only about yours.” I get up from the floor
and grab the microphone and recite a long list of names about 25 Genocides
until I ran out of breath….  and fall again.

He grabs the phone again and says, “Oh I see now, sorry my Son, I did not
realize you can pack only 25 names of Genocides in one breath and not all the
50 on your list.”

Those who do not show up to the events always complain that, “Mike you are
biased, you did not include Kashmir Pundits or the Bosnia Genocide… My eternal
question to them is why did you forget Rwanda? Why did you forget Pol Pot? Why
did you forget…?

In the last 9 years, we have been able to talk about 12 or 13 Genocides, but
always show the entire list on the screen, even then there are Genocides we don’t
even know about.  Indeed, some day, I
will write a book about dealing with some of the most difficult situations with
different communities; – Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Jews, African
Americans, Native Americans and others.

The first time we put the program together in 2006, a few members (just a few)
of the Jewish community were on the edge and concerned about bringing up
Palestinian Massacres (Sabra and Shatila).  We do talk about every one, we must see the
inhumanity embedded in all of us to reflect and find solutions.  God has always been good to me and guided me during
that critical moment in the opening speech,  in my invocation, instead of naming all the
Genocides and Massacres, I called on a silent prayer and asked people to pray
for the Genocides and Massacres they knew, to make it an all inclusive event.
There was a sigh of relief on the faces of those few, wow! Silence is Golden.

We have to learn our limitations, we are not Kali Maa or a computer to
perform infinite multiple tasks in the given time, a single breath to a single
hour.

Now coming back to you, (the man who sent an email about me to groups) you can
deal with one issue at a time.  The Yoga was the issue and that is what we
dealt with.  If you want to talk about Kuwait Massacre, why didn’t you
mention other massacres including Charleston Massacre? If you go to one of the
Chinese buffets – why don’t you eat each one of the 72 items they have placed
on the table?

When you leave early from a party – do you go to every one of the
50 fellow guests and say goodbye to them? If you do, I’ve to learn from
you.
Let’s be contributors and not complainers.

Wisdom is similar every where

Comments Off on Wisdom is similar every where
When
you start learning about other societies, cultures or religions – you find a lot
of similarities in wisdom even though the expressions are different. For example
– the idea of God in different religions has got a lot of similarities – as if
they have copied each other but really not. Think about this, if you sow a grain
of wheat in Chile, Canada, China, Chechnya, Congo or Costa Rica… the seed
will sprout and give the same grain.

When people are happy they shake the hips
in joy and LOL – when a spouse cheats us, we sing songs, sad songs no matter
where live, be it in India, America or Mongolia. A mother will always feed her
child first when there is not enough food left. If someone messes with one’s
daughter… the father or the mother will be more than ready to wring the guys
head. What else?

Supreme Court extends same-sex marriage nationwide

Comments Off on Supreme Court extends same-sex marriage nationwide

Every human has a God given right to eat, drink, wear and believe whatever he or she wants, and marry whoever he or she wants. Some among us may not agree with the idea of same sex marriage, but that is the ultimate freedom.  Freedom guaranteed to one is freedom guaranteed to all.

Carlos McKnight, 17, of Washington, holds up a flag in support of gay marriage outside of the Supreme Court in Washington, Friday. JACQUELYN MARTIN/THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

When God gave the options to Adam and Eve and explained the consequences of eating the forbidden fruit, and yet they chose to eat it, God did not stop them or slapped them for the wrong doing (at that time), instead God lived up to his word. That is when the freedom took seed and it is God given.

Freedom is a God given gift that we should cherish! God could have stopped Lucifer from tempting Adam and Eve, he could have stopped Adam from consuming the forbidden fruit, and he could have prevented Jesus from the crucifix, Moses did not have to speak up against Pharaoh, Muhammad (pbuh) did not have to endure persecution. God Almighty could have stopped everyone in the tract, but he did not, he gave us the freedom to choose how we deal with conflicts and restore harmony.

If Hilary gets elected as President, America would have achieved the ideals laid out by the founding fathers – that we are all created equal. Indeed, each one of us should have the equal opportunities and equal access to everything.

Congratulations to the GLBT community, now they can live freely without apprehension.  I hope the Evangelical Imams don’t issue any Fatwas against this or blame this SC decision for the water crisis in California.

Once again, we appreciate President Obama to open the first official door.

Dr. Omid Safi reflects on Same-sex Marriage :
……………………………………………………………………..
Let me pause, though, and say a word about what I have witnessed in the last few days about the Muslim public discourse regarding same-sex marriage and the Supreme Court ruling. I have been impressed by what I see as increased nuance in our public discourse from many people, including many who are personally and religiously opposed to homosexuality but recognize the importance of the state not imposing exclusionary practices on citizens.
However, there is one item that I am concerned about, and I would add, disappointed in regarding a number of these public statements. I have seen quite a few Muslim leaders articulate something along the lines of “From the perspective of mainstream, normative Islamic law, any type of sexual union outside of marriage is unethical and immoral.”
If that is what we are going to state publicly, then let us be honest and transparent and state that this normative Islamic law also included–and includes–the possibility of concubines and polygamy.
Both are sanctioned in the Qur’an, and in Islamic law. Neither is likely to be viewed with great favor in the public discourse, which is why I suspect Muslims leave them off of our discussion.
Naturally, I have no interest in advocating for concubinage or polygamy: in the case of the first a hierarchical institution and in the case of second one that is open to many kinds of abuse (though I recognize there are times that it may work for some, and God knows better than I do.).
But yes, if our appeal is going to be to existing, historical “mainstream, normative law”, then we have to be willing to publicly defend and stand by concubinage and polygamy. To leave them off and pretend that “traditional” sanctioned models of Islamic marriage only include that between one man and one woman united in marriage is at best intellectually weak and at worst dishonest. The same thing goes, of course for others who present a “Biblical” model of marriage.

I AM GLAD I AM FREE!
Not being affiliated with either the Republicans or Democrats, has allowed me to see who is a good candidate for America without compulsion for conformity, or guilt of seeing the good in others. I am a Muslim and I am proud to be free, Islam has allowed me to be Just, fair and free.

My faith teaches humility and I do not claim my religion to be superior, and your religion teaches the same, except that you may not have explored it. My religion suits me as yours suits you. I stand up for every human and his or her right to her space, sustenance, nurturence and freedom in the pursuit of their happiness. To be spiritual is to believe and practice God values with no barriers between you and anyone of the 7 billion of us. Are you free?

Obama Care is secure, thank God |  TheGhousediary.com

Thank God for the Supreme Court for upholding Obama Care. Republicans, not all the good ones, but a few extremists among them cannot fathom a black man to be the president and are constantly trying to hide behind their ugliness by making attempts to tear down every good thing Obama is doing for America. They have introduced several bills to undo affordable care… and appealed to the Supreme Court twice and got rejected.

I urge the good Republicans to speak up and save their party from the extremists elements among them who don’t give flip about average Americans – and they should, ultimately, it is all of us, 100% of Americans that makes this country run.

America will stand with Obama and not these guys who are determined to ruin America. Good Republicans, please speak up and put this thing behind and move on with producing good things for America. Obama is one of the few best presidents we have had in 50 years and earn some respect by respecting him.
Thank
you,
