Defending the Freedom of Speech

Comments Off on Defending the Freedom of Speech
Freedom of speech must be cherished, admired and defended at any cost. The most important test of freedom is when you are willing to stand up for other’s freedom.  Why should any one stand up for you, if you are not willing to do the same?
All the great things are born out of freedom; if the great reformers in Religious, Social, Medical, Mathematical, and Engineering did not have the freedom to do the right thing, none of us would have witnessed the good things we are relishing today.
If Jesus, Muhammad, Krishna, Buddha or others did not have the freedom, we would not have seen those religions today. They were radicals to the majorities at that time and they were chased, persecuted and harassed, yet they had the freedom to preach and left enduring legacies.
Freedom also produces rascals. We should not make laws for the acts of the few; those few will violate the rules any way with or without the laws. There are 3 Million Americans in Jails today, the law did not matter to them, and passing another law is redundant. Same goes with the Terrorists, the more you go against them, and the more exciting it is for them to be scheming. We can spend half the money we spend on Security apparatus on education and mitigate terrorism; we are fighting them rather than finding a solution, a ridiculous duel.
The world has experienced the difficulties in dealing with the Cartoon issue. The radicals went ballistic in the very name of the prophet who would have opposed any violence and instead, would have prayed for goodwill to prevail, not only that he would have stood up and prevented any one from hurting the miscreants, then the cartoonist would have become bewildered and perhaps become the Ambassador of reconciliation. The reaction of the handful of Muslims was uncalled for and thanks to the majority of Muslims who spoke up against it.
Before the Cartoon was released years ago, I sent an appeal to Muslims to do what the Prophet had done as an example; to pray and ask God to guide the cartoonist with goodwill and offer protection should some one harm the man. Many a Mosques had done that and wrote to me about it. This was an opportunity lost for those who are bent on conversions. Of course the cartoons were distasteful, so were the reactions.
When MF Hussain drew the paintings of Hindu Icons in naked including Mother Sita, all hell broke loose. Of course the paintings were distasteful but the reactions were similar.
When Passion of the Christ was released; Muslims, Jews and Christians together opposed the movie and in many a Cities in India it was banned from showing in the theaters.
Clergies from Jewish, Christian and Hindu traditions have burnt the Quraan, Jewish and Hindu clergies have burnt the Bible, a Muslim and a Jew was disrespectful to Christmas tree. You will find these in every tradition. What we need to do it to treat this as an isolated incidence by individual and not the whole body of a people. Let’s not become the multipliers of cancerous cells.
The nation of Jordan is having a trail in absentia against the Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, the outcome is obvious; he will be declared an apostate and death would be his penalty. We can clearly see the duping going on here; there are protests from the public to gain freedom and the Government of Jordan is playing this game as if that will solve the problem of the people of Jordan.
Asia Bibi in Pakistan is rotting in the Jail for Blaspheming Prophet Muhammad, and the fanatic core is out to get her in the name of the Prophet, who would have in turn prayed for her instead of revenging. I have written appeals and solutions on it and will continue to do my share of the work.
The Arab Nations sent a proposal to the United Nations asking to pass a resolution to ban any incitement against religious figures or religious books and I have opposed it.
Thank God, many have seen the wisdom in the freedom. The greater evil would be to shut some one out.  We should not make laws for the acts of the few; those few will violate the rules any way with or without the laws.
It is a learning experience for all of us to find solutions where no one feels that outraged, rightfully or wrongfully to express in such a manner. As a society, all of us need to do our share of goodwill nurturing.
Let freedom of expression be the rule to follow, we cannot go wrong.

Happy Easter

http://nabsites.net/demo/happy-easter-2/

Easter is a celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, it is Christianity’s most important holiday. Many a Christians don white clothing symbolizing purification. It was what Jesus donned once and to this day the tradition is followed at Yardent, where Jesus was baptized.

I was blessed to be baptized in River Jordan last year in the same spot where Jesus was baptized. It was an enriching experience to me in particular feeling the symbolic transformation.
Jesus is my mentor, a true pluralist who had no barriers between him and humanity, as a Muslim I felt the affirmation of that thought; of being boundless.
Some of you may not be aware that Jesus is revered by Muslims, belief in him as a prophet is a requisition. He is considered as the bright star in the morning that brought the day light and predicted the arrival of Muhammad. Muslims further believe that Jesus is coming back as the Messiah around the end times and restore peace on earth and create the kingdom on earth where no human will be apprehensive of the other.
There is a full Chapter on Mary in the Quraan and Prophet Muhammad said there are three women who need to be looked up to as role models; Mary, Asia (the one who raised Moses) and Fatima (prophet’s daughter) and none of the women were traditional, they stood up against odds and changed the course of history.  The Hijab many Muslim women wear has origins in Mother Mary’s Hijab.
It was a trip called “MEPI” Middle East Peace Initiative organized by Universal Peace Federation. I was blessed to visit the holy sites of Bahais in Haifa, Druze near Golan Heights, and of course the Wailing Walls (Jews), Masjid Al-Aqsa (Muslims) and Holy Sepulcher and every Place where Jesus had been, via del Rosa where he walked with the cross, his burial place where he was risen, it was just an incredible experience and will write about it for Christmas.
Look me up in Google as “interfaith speaker”.
Happy Easter

Moin Akhtar is a rare individual, great entertainer, actor and a communicator. He is a legend of the Subcontinent and touched the hearts of millions across the world with his ability to communicate messages of harmony with humor. He was a perfect deliverer.

Shiraz Mithani, Syed Talib and I had sponsored his show in Dallas in 1996 and it was the first Pakistani Show that was houseful and thanks to my fellow Indians who joined us to pack the house. Mayor Ron Kirk and my Indian friend (who looks like me to the White Americans) at City of Dallas produced a proclamation honoring Moin Akhtar as an honorary Citizen of Dallas, and a formal key to the City Hall was presented to him. Moin was thrilled.
I have watched episodes after episodes of loose talk.
There is not going to be another Moin Akhtar.
An era ends with him,
a great loss to the Subcontinent
May God bless his soul.
In a short time, I was able to pull this picture where I was introducing Moin Akhtar to the audience prior to honoring him with the Key to our City while Shiraz was able to put the Video together on you tube ( link below)

PRESS RELEASE

Americans together have to put an end to the divisiveness and work towards building a cohesive, safe and secure America. No American has to live in anxieties, discomfort or fear of the other.
April 22, 2011 — The right wingers have been successful in pitting one American against the other for their own political and financial gains, it is time for us to come together as Americans and find solutions to the divisive issues and focus on becoming a catalyst to each others prosperity. Is Hell Dead?

Comments Off on Is Hell Dead?

http://nabsites.net/demo/is-hell-dead/

Hell is not dead, nor will it die but dying it is.

Texas Faith is a weekly column at Dallas Morning News where a dozen religious panelists opine on issues facing the nation. I am blessed to be one sharing a pluralistic perspective on issues of the day. No group has a monopoly on good, bad and ugly things of life, we are equally responsible for creating a cohesive society where you and I can live without apprehension of the other and live the life and let others live theirs.  This weeks question is responded by 14 Panelists in the following link: http://religionblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2011/04/texas-faith-is-hell-dead.html
Here is my take
Hell is not dead, nor will it die but dying it is.
Hell is different things to different people; to some it is a real thing where one burns on renewable embers for eternity. At the other end of the spectrum it is pure anguish to some, and yet to some it ain’t there.
But one thing is certain, an increasing number of people believe hell is a thing of the past used as a deterrent to prevent wrong doing.  The latest research from Barna Associates shows that only 32 percent of adults see hell as, “an actual place of torment and suffering where people’s souls go after death.”
“I don’t think fear, as a tactic, really moves people toward faith these days,” Pastor Bill Hybels said. “So, tactically, I think there are better ways to interest the uninterested in the claims of Jesus Christ.”  Pope Benedict reiterates, “Jesus came to tell us everyone is wanted in paradise, and that hell, about which little gets said today, exists and is eternal for those who shut their hearts to His love.”
People simply don’t want to hear about Hell any more, they have enough of it in their own lives to listen to another one.
They are searching for a door to escape momentarily and prefer attending a Church, Mosque, Synagogue, Temple or other place of worship to hear about peace and hope, where no one is apprehensive of the other under the big tent. This phenomenon is part of the people regardless of their religion, some Muslims go to a Mosque at the tail end of a sermon to catch up with the prayers and avoid hearing about hell.
Author Theologian RC Sproul writes, “Many evangelical pastors have bristled at the thought of being labeled a “fire and brimstone” preacher and turned to a kinder, gentler approach.
Joel Osteen has captured that market well; he understands their needs and consistently delivers a message of hope to over 30,000 a week including me.  People are also turning to silent mediation centers to get away from the hell pounding in the sanctuaries.
An empirical research is warranted to determine a correlation between decline in church attendance and the sermons of hell, hate and fear.
The hell is indeed dying, and the individuals are discovering the myths of Santa Claus and the myths of Hell.
Bottom Line:
Here is a possibility you may want to ponder. Every item of the universe, life or matter is created to seek its own balance for survival. Matter is programmed to seek its own balance, where as humans are not, they have the free will to find that elusive balance through a variety of religious, psychological, social or common sense guidance.
In life when someone wrongs you, you cry out loud seeking justice in a variety of formats; it is indeed a balance seeking mechanism. Religions offer the scenario of hell or reincarnations in lower forms as a punishment; it gives hope to the victims of oppression that no one will go scot free and yet God offers an alternative plan; forgiveness. It is Central to the teachings of Jesus and found in every religious and spiritual tradition. In Islam, Quraan Guides one with this thought; the one God loves most is the one who forgives.

Naming a Political Satire site

Comments Off on Naming a Political Satire site

The amount of stupidity displayed by the politicians is amazing; either they are  idiots, nincompoops, dumbos, morons or downright stupid. They are every where; usually the right wingers make an ass of themselves and the media rightfully highlights the extremes, so we can manage the old fashion way; management by exception.

I am creating a fun website to list statements and comments made by Politicians from across the world, but preferably here in America.  What is ironic is their refusal to see or at least hear another point of view

Dictionary: An idiot  is an Adult stupid person with a mental age below three years, while a moron  is also an Adult stupid person with a mental age of between seven to twelve years. Stupid refers to lack of ability while ignorant refers to lack of knowledge

What name would you Vote in for a website?

Stupid Politicians
Moron Politicians
Idiot Politicians
Dumb Politicians
Nincompoop Politicians

So I ask you to suggest the name for the website to assemble all political stupidities in one single place that you can be a contributor.

Name the Site you would prefer to describe them
Share a link with the title to line up posting on the website
If you know sites that already do this, share it too.

NURTURING PLURALISTIC VALUES EMBEDDED IN ISLAM

A Muslim Speaker, thinker, organizer and an activist committed to building cohesive societies with a belief that what is good for Muslims has got to be good for the world and vice versa to sustain peace, harmony and prosperity.

To be a Muslim is to be a peace maker, one who constantly seeks to mitigate conflicts and nurtures goodwill for peaceful co-existence of humanity. God wants us to live in peace and harmony with his creation; Life and Matter. Over 1000 articles have been published on a range of topics in Islam and Pluralism. Insha Allah, a book outlining the Muslim vision is on the horizon.

In defense of Islam, pursuing a civil dialogue

http://www.dallasnews.com/news/columnists/steve-blow/20100919-In-defense-of-Islam-pursuing-9397.ece
Over and over you hear it said: If Muslims oppose terrorism, why don’t they stand up and say it?

If that has been you, Mike Ghouse ought to be your hero.

It is hard to imagine that anyone has worked harder than the Carrollton resident to demonstrate the peaceful and moderate side of Islam.

And that effort includes personally visiting Dallas’ First Baptist Church last Sunday just to put a friendly face on the “evil, evil religion” that the Rev. Robert Jeffress denounced a few weeks before.

“It was wonderful,” Ghouse said of the visit. “We were so warmly received.”
He hopes a quick chat with Jeffress will be the start of deeper discussion about Islam and the importance of respect between religions.

“I want to have a dialogue with him, not to say he is wrong but to share another point of view,” Ghouse said.

The 57-year-old Muslim was born in India and has lived in the United States for 30 years. He owns a small property management firm. But most of his day is devoted to building bridges between people of different faiths.

“It is my passion,” he said in his distinctive raspy voice.

He has been a guest a dozen times on Sean Hannity’s TV and radio talk shows. “I don’t like the way Sean cuts me off, but I have to honor him for giving the American public a semblance of another point of view.”

Ghouse said he can understand fear and criticism of Islam because he went through a time of similar feelings. As a teen, he was troubled by passages of the Quran. He called himself an atheist for a while.

But he said deeper study led him to realize the Quran had been purposely mistranslated down through history.

In the Middle Ages, European leaders commissioned a hostile Quran translation to foster warfare against Muslim invaders.

Later, Muslim leaders produced another translation to inflame Muslims against Christians and Jews.

“It was all for politics,” he said.
Ghouse said he hopes to present Jeffress with a modern, faithful translation and challenge him to find evil verses.

“If he can, I will convert. I will join his church,” Ghouse said. “If he can’t, I will call on him to retract his statements and become a peacemaker.”

Ghouse acknowledges that deep problems persist within Islam. “Three steps forward, two steps back,” he said with a sigh.

And he agrees that mainstream Muslims have not done enough to counter violent images of their faith.

“That is very true,” he said. “But part of it is that many Muslims have given up hope that we will ever be heard.”

He said repeated denunciations of terrorism seem to fall on deaf ears.

And some efforts have backfired – like the proposed Islamic information center in New York. He said it should be hailed for furthering the moderate Muslim cause.
Instead, it has deepened hostility toward Muslims.

I have been astounded by the amount of anti-Islam propaganda that circulates via e-mail. Tons of it has come my way in the last few weeks.

One theme is that people like Mike Ghouse can’t be trusted, that Islam encourages deception.

But Ghouse says actions speak louder than words. And he points to elections in Muslim nations.

More than half of Muslims live in countries with some degree of democracy. And time and time again, Islamist parties are overwhelmingly rejected in favor of secular, mainstream parties.

“The religious parties don’t get more than 3 percent of the vote,” Ghouse said.
Polls show deep mistrust of Muslims. “But the most important question in those surveys is: ‘Do you know anything about Islam?’ ” Ghouse said. “Most people say no.”
What keeps him going is faith in Americans, he said.

“The majority of Americans, if they know the truth, they will change their minds.”

Burqa Ban in France sets a dangerous precedence.

Comments Off on Burqa Ban in France sets a dangerous precedence.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-ghouse/french-burqa-ban-sets-a-d_b_849157.html

The ban takes France back into darkness when women were considered a Chattel, a property of men to be used any way they can.

Osama Bin Laden and his ilk force women at to wear the Burqa at gun point, where as the French President is forcing women not to wear it. Are women a play thing for these men?

Sustainable cultural change can come only though free will and not compulsion. I am not for Burqa and most Muslims are not either. But we have to defend the woman’s right to wear what she chooses. We must uphold the liberties of people and not force women to do anything against their will; to make them wear the Burqa or force them not to wear. We have to be pro-choice.

Burqa is not a religious requirement but a cultural evolvement and is a part of the daily lives of nearly 5% of Muslims in France and about 20% across the globe.  You cannot ask a Nun to wear lesser garments or even those who are from conservative families to wear Bikinis on the beaches. An Indian woman visiting France will not and should not comply with the demands of the French dress code in public places.
Is the French public drawing devious pleasure in reducing Muslim women to obey the laws under the guise of security? The world is silently witnessing evil in making. Aren’t we ashamed of our silence during the Holocaust?  Sarkozy is setting a dangerous precedent in the world. What if other Nations decide to go back to medieval times in robbing the liberties of the people for their own games?

Women have come a long way forward to find freedom from primates and now, are we going to let Neanderthal Sarkozy reset the clock? Who is he to tell a woman what to eat, drink, wear and believe?

I hope all the French women wear Burqa one day to protect the liberties of the ones in danger. It is the wrong law to have passed and we cannot have such evil laws on our books.
First they came for Burqas and I did not care,
I did not wear the Burqa;
They came for Turbans and I did not care,
I did not wear the Turban;
They came for the Kippa and I did not care,
I was not Jewish;
The also came for the Cross and I did not care,
I was not a Christian;
Then the came for English and I did not care,
I did not Speak English;
Then the came for me and I Panicked
There was no one for me.
To bring about any cultural change in a given society, it has to be done through free will, particularly if it is not hurting or affecting others. Women have been wearing Burqa in France for a very long time and they should continue to wear if that gives them a sense of comfort, it is even more important today given the prevalent prejudices; we should not aggravate but mitigate it to build a cohesive society.

Additional comments:
For women who are comfortable a certain way for ages, we just cannot walk in and “tell” them that it does not fit us and you need to change. There should be process of education but not enforcement. It is giving permission to other tyrants to be abusive to their minorities. Simply not acceptable – I am asserting that I am not for Burqa, it is not a religious requirement, but would not want any one to impose their ideas on others out of the blue.
The best ban would be ban on weapons and guns… terrorist use every which way they can to do the harm… what if the terrorists start wearing perfectly made masks that looks like Sara Palin, Hilary Clinton and others… you ban all women who are white and wear their hair the same way…. regulations is not the answer, change of our own attitudes in imposing regulations on others is the answer.
As I have said earlier some laws are downright wrong even if the majority approves it – California’s proposition 5, Farmers Branch on illegal residents, medical care for illegal residents, no Jews in Nazi land… stoning women (Iran) chopping hands for thievery (Saudi Arabia), harassing Sikhs in Afghanistan (majority rule and the stupid laws)… Killing for blasphemy (Pakistan), Mayans cannot worship in public (Mexico)… Terrorism will continue regardless and we have to work in mitigating it and not aggravating it.
As civil societies we need to hold the temptations to be mobs in the name of democracy; I hope the French speak up, if not they will be equated with Afghanistan, Iran and Saudi Arabia. That’s what the oppressive right wingers want, not the French public, it is time for them to stand up and be counted as good humans that care for others.

I am pleased to share our candidates appeal.  To be fair to every candidate, every one was asked on the same “to all email” and was reminded three times.
The City of Carrollton has listed the names in the following order and the same order is followed here with no preference to one or the other.

Please register to vote today and do not forget to vote, it is our City.  If only you know the blunders made by City of Garland, City of Dallas in losing revenues to other Cities, you would want to participate, please do; it is your City, my city and our City.

MATTHEW MARCHANT FOR MAYOR
http://www.matthewmarchant.com/
Highly regarded for his principled, energetic and common sense leadership, Matthew Marchant is currently serving as the Mayor Pro Tem of Carrollton.  Matthew’s service has earned the support of all of the existing City Council members as well as every other Carrollton official that has served with Matthew and his opponent since 2002.   These folks have closely observed the leadership skills of the two candidates over the past 9 years and have unanimously come to the conclusion that Matthew is the best choice for the future of Carrollton.
Matthew’s vision for Carrollton is a first-rate city with safe, vibrant neighborhoods, quality development and a great community spirit.  He believes our City needs to be proactive and move forward with a series of initiatives to keep us on the right track.  Some of the goals and initiatives Matthew will pursue as Mayor are: Crack Down on Crime-Ridden Apartments, Make Carrollton the Safest Large City in North Texas, Attract High-Quality Restaurants and Retail Development, Promote Government Efficiency and Keep Taxes Low, Enhance Community Spirit and Activities and Open, Transparent Government.
Matthew is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University (Bachelor of Science) and the University Of Texas School Of Law in Austin, Texas (Juris Doctorate).  He is also a graduate of Leadership Metrocrest, Class XXI. Matthew is a partner at Strasburger & Price, LLP, concentrating his practice on real estate and finance law.  He is married to his wife of 10 years, Lindsay, and is the proud father of two daughters, ages 5 and 7.

RON BRANSON FOR MAYOR
http://www.runwithron.net/
My name is Ron Branson and I am honored to have served as Mayor of the City of Carrollton for the past three years.
I ran for mayor in 2008 not because I had a burning desire, but because many Citizens urged me to do so because of a need for new leadership and new direction. It was the voters, the Citizens, who reaffirmed that a change was needed and I have provided that change. What I have found out is that I am really proud of my performance as Mayor. Even those supporting my opponent say that I am a good person, and have been a good Mayor.
My record speaks for itself. Crime statistics last year dropped, with the most serious Part I crimes decreasing 15%, and economic development added 6.8 million square feet of new businesses for the best year in the past seven years.
I have been very active in the communities for many years, even before becoming Mayor. My support of events such as BAPS walks is unequaled by any Carrollton elected official, and has been consistent and not just campaign-time oriented.
I have served with honor, integrity, honesty and with respect. I am your Mayor 24/7, with no outside influence other than my family. Carrollton and the Citizens of Carrollton come first before anything else.
I am not a professional politician, but rather a professional volunteer. I attend and participate in your neighborhood and organizational events by invitation and without a lot of urging.
I hope that you will consider me when you go to the polls. Let me finish the great record I have started. I have been there for you, and ask that you stand with me now.
Carrollton Mayor Ron Branson

ANTHONY WILDER, PLACE 2
http://www.wilderforcarrollton.com/
Anthony was born and raised in Dallas along with his 3 brothers.  All 4 attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Anthony graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where he majored in Mathematics with a concentration in Actuarial Sciences.

Anthony is married to Sarah and together they have four children.  The Wilder’s attend Sojourn Church in Carrollton, where they have been members since 2004.

Anthony has attended 45 of the last 54 council work sessions and meetings.  He is engaged in the affairs of the city council and staff.  He most recently served as Vice-Chair of the Property Standards Board.

Anthony is now seeking your support to bring transparency, efficiency and accountability to city government.

He witnessed work sessions prior to the addition of cameras and after their installation.  He would like that same transparency in other areas of government, such as the city’s check register.

He has witnessed the lack of accountability displayed by our elected officials in the last couple of years.  His desire is to engage the citizens in all affairs of the city.  He will do that, especially after the election when it is needed the most.

The managed competition program has achieved great efficiencies and the need for regional shared services is obvious.  Both will require tough choices in the near future.  Anthony is committed to both and will keep the council on course to determine the most efficient and effective ways to provide necessary city services, whether they are through co-sourcing, insourcing or shared services.

BONNIE KAPLAN, PLACE 2

In 2009, the A.W. Perry Museum Society decided to commission a quilter to make a quilt to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the rebuilt A.W. Perry home. I was named the lead on the project that was meant to be a fundraising event for the Society.
We decided to sell squares and strips that people would purchase and sign. The signed squares and strips would then be incorporated into the design of the quilt. I realized that Carrollton today looked very different than Carrollton in 1909. One of the most obvious differences was in the demographics of our city.
Today Carrollton is a very diverse city, ethnically, religiously and socially. I decided to seek out people who would represent these many kinds of diversity. So we reached out to everyone. No one was excluded. People who participated in the project ranged from the age of eight to ninety-one. Many different races of people were included in the quilt. Some people signed because of their occupations, such as firefighters and boy scouts. Others signed because of their countries of origin, such as Lebanon, Pakistan, India, Mexico, China, Viet Nam, and Egypt. There were patches for various churches, including the Baptists, Hindu, Orthodox Armenians, Jewish, and Muslim communities.  Descendants of the original settlers of Carrollton also signed the quilt.
The signed squares and strips were sent to the quilter with no instructions on where to place them. She did not know the participants and so they were randomly placed throughout the design.
And so the finished quilt became of tapestry of the diversity that is our city. It represents an ideal to which we can all aspire, with all the differences stitched into one beautiful whole.

PRAVIN DESAI, PLACE 2
http://www.electpravindesai.com/
I love Carrollton. Over last 20 years the city has become very vibrant, safe and diverse. I want to maintain and improve this lifestyle for all the city residents. Over next few years the city will face significant shortfall in revenues and how we balance the budget will reflect how this lifestyle is affected or compromised
My 30 years of experience in managing costs and operational efficiency will allow us to look at the cost structure and provide significant revenue without increasing taxes or cutting safety services. My platform details are as below;
Platform
Over next three to four years our City will face huge financial challenges as the projected recurring sources of funds will decline significantly. The projected growth during that period will between 0.5% – 2%. As a result, the General funds comprising of Property tax, Sales tax, and Franchise fees will not recover to pre-recession levels until 2018.
In view of this assessment, initial reaction would be to increase the taxes and reduce the services. My platform is based on following areas:
Increase Revenue by Managing Costs, not by Tax Increase
·  Change the work culture to look at the problems with a new set of lenses and a laser focus into cost savings. No areas should be exempt.
·  More competitive partnership with our vendors to support us in our goals.
·  Develop a long term relationship with new entrepreneurs.
·  Develop a reward system for employees who bring new cost saving ideas.
·  Provide Tax incentives to New Businesses
·  Develop business models to achieve a win-win for city/investors/business owners.
·  Upgrade I-35 corridor in an innovative way.
·   Revitalize run down properties through investor/city partnership. H-mart was great success but we lost Vista Ridge Mall, Sam’s and Castle Hills.
·   Attract new business to the area, e.g. large theatres, Premium Restaurants, and international sports facilities.
·  Improve Management and Operation Efficiency
·  Huge potential to generate savings by 3 to 5% improvement in efficiency.
·  Provide Quality Lifestyle to Carrollton Residents
·  More Parks, Entertainment Centers, Sports Facilities, Road Development.
·  Adequate Firefighting capability, Ambulance services.
·  High standards of law enforcement.

Hello, my name is Cathy Henesey and I would like to represent you in all aspects of Carrollton. I am not a career politician; I am a working citizen who cares about the same things as you do such as house values, taxes, places to eat and shop, parks and recreation, and good neighbor stewardship.
I graduated from Newman Smith High School in 1982 and I attended Texas Tech University, graduating with my MBA in Human Resources. I have had a successful career in recruiting for over 20 years and currently serve as a recruiting manager for Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. I am very involved in Carrollton, but this short bio won’t explain it all, so I would like to direct you to my website at www.cathyforcarrollton.com to learn more.
My life career is about inclusion as a human resource professional. I constantly strive for diversity in my career and bring this belief to everything that I do. I know that inclusion brings new ideas to old problems. I volunteer my expertise regularly to those searching for new careers. I serve on the Dallas Mayor’s Committee to assist those with disabilities find new careers. I would like to have a multicultural board that would include leaders from different communities that represent our city demographics; this board would present issues that are facing each community to the city manager and council.
My number is 214-725-0710 and my personal email is cathysphr@verizon.net. I believe in open communication and I welcome personal questions.

TINO PATEL, PLACE 4
www.TinoPatel.com
I am running as a candidate for City Council, Place 4 because I care about maintaining and improving the quality of life for the current and future residents of Carrollton. We need to make smart fiscal decisions, ensure parks and community facilities are fully operational, even work with local schools, and keep our public safety departments fully staffed. While fostering a healthy business climate, revitalization of south Carrollton, and a renewed downtown with adequate parking, maintenance of our streets and infrastructure would be my priorities.
I have lived in Carrollton for over 10 years. I always had a question when I wanted to take my family out for a movie or even shopping, there are very little choices for me to spend my tax dollars in my City. I realized very soon that money was scarce and resources were not adequate when my subdivision park took 8 years to develop. This is a very simple observation which many of you would have noticed. As a Realtor®  when I suggest my clients to consider Carrollton for a place to live they always compare our city to Plano, Frisco or even Lewisville and prefer to choose one of them.
My mission is to make my City a desirable place to live. By bringing more new developments like retail centers, malls, entertainment and restaurants which will generate more tax dollars for the city and mean less burden on city residents. In return with a positive economic growth, house values will increase. Now is the time to change, if we cannot bring change now we will be left behind. More and more pressure will be on tax payers to maintain the city facility and infrastructure.

We have to build a cohesive Carrollton where no Citizen of ours has to live in apprehension of the other.  If we allow negative energy and negative campaigns to creep in, it will eventually swallow every one. Instead of serving fellow Carrolltonians and enjoying life with our family and friends, we will be wasting our time scheming and maligning others. Please stop any one from maligning the other. Each candidate has enough good things to sell than resorting to the lowliness.
Dislaimer: I am a volunteer and have nothing to gain and I am not going to run for any elections but will continue to serve “any” organization in Carrollton if needed. I am a moderate Republican and will remain one, and am free from the bondage of party. My Loyalty is to America and will vote for the candidate who is right for my country, state and City.
Please don’t forget to register today.
As Americans together we need to build a cohesive America where no American has to live in apprehension of the other.  The organization to promote those ideals  is www.AmericaTogetherFoundation.com
Thank you.
